'Tis the Season... to be Sustainable! 🎄 (Even in Small Spaces!) Real vs. fake Christmas tree? This year, we're on #TeamRealTree for a greener Christmas! ♻️ Real trees absorb CO2, provide habitats, and are biodegradable. Plus, nothing beats that fresh pine scent! 🌲✨ We get it - fake trees are tempting! ✨ No needles to vacuum, perfect shape, easy storage... BUT they often end up in landfills. 😔 Small space? No problem! Opt for a potted real tree you can enjoy year after year. 🌱 Choose real and make a difference: Buy local to reduce your carbon footprint. Look for sustainable certifications (FSC or Soil Association). Recycle or compost your tree after the holidays. Happy Earth Day! 🌍 Reflecting on my first awareness of Earth Day and my experience in Sydney, Australia, in 2006, I witnessed and engaged with a community coming together to plant trees, clean up beaches, and raise awareness about environmental issues. These practices continue today globally, with events focusing on sustainability, renewable energy, and conservation efforts. However, 18 years later and we’re still hearing the same conversations… Today, let’s celebrate our planet and commit to making a difference through small daily practices that can contribute to a sustainable lifestyle. Even for those facing challenges or limitations, there are simple steps we can take to reduce our environmental footprint: 1. ♻️ Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Whether you head it from Bob the Builder or Paw Patrol, embrace the mantra of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ in your daily life. Cut down on single-use plastics, opt for reusable alternatives, and recycle whenever possible. 2. 🔋 Conserve Energy: Practice energy conservation by turning off lights when not in use, unplugging electronics, and using energy-efficient appliances. 3. 💚 Choose Sustainable Options: Support businesses that prioritize sustainability by opting for eco-friendly products, locally sourced goods, and ethically produced items. 4. 🚿 Reduce Water Usage: Be mindful of water consumption by fixing leaks, taking shorter showers, and using water-saving devices. 5. 🥗 Eat Sustainably: Incorporate more plant-based meals into your diet, choose sustainably sourced seafood, and reduce food waste by meal planning and composting. I went veggie 6 years ago and found the switch worked well for me, maybe just try one less meat-based meal a week. It can be far more cost effective too Let’s honor Earth Day, in whatever small way we can, by committing to making a positive impact, one small action at a time. Together, we can create a more sustainable future for generations to come. ✌️ Oh… and today, maybe try some grounding; Take off your shoes and socks and stand with your feet in the grass and take in a big, deep lungful of air… 🧘 #EarthDay #Sustainability #Grounding #SmallChangesBigImpact

Today is extra special for me—it’s not just Earth Day; it’s also my birthday! 🌍🎉 Celebrating my bEARTHday feels symbolic since I've always strived to embrace sustainable practices to protect our beautiful planet. In the spirit of celebration, here are 6 ways to make every day an Earth Day: 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲💡🔌 - Turn off lights and electronics when not in use, embracing energy-efficient appliances, and weatherizing your home is proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save you money on your energy bill. 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟑 𝐑'𝐬. 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞, 𝐑𝐞𝐮𝐬𝐞, 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 🔄 . I’ve started small by trying to cut down on what I throw away. For example, I’ve got a bunch of old yoga mats that I’m figuring out how to repurpose! 𝐎𝐩𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐫, 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬🥦🌽 - Did you know that 30% of greenhouse gas emissions come from our food choices? Plant-based foods require less energy, land, and water, offering health benefits and reducing our carbon footprint. 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞-𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 🚫🥤 - When you add it up you would be shocked by how much single-use plastic you use. Switching to a reusable water bottle is an easy first step towards minimizing this waste. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 🍎🥕 - Composting enriches the soil and can cut landfill waste by up to 60%. I've taken a first step in buying a kitchen composter, but anyone can contribute by setting up a composting area in their yard or participating in local programs. 𝐃𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫—𝐠𝐨 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 🔌 🚗 - When you can, find opportunities to drive less. Grab your bike, walk, take public transportation. If you're able, explore going electric! I always remind myself, even the smallest changes can have a huge impact when we all work together. 🌱💚 #EarthDay #EarthDayEveryDay #Sustainability #GoGreen #bEARTHday Celebration 🎂🌏 Feel free to share your own tips and ways to protect our planet! 💪🌍✨

Happy New Year! A fresh start, new goals, and endless possibilities. But what if this year, we didn’t just focus on personal growth but also took small steps toward a healthier planet? Think about how celebrations like New Year’s Eve often leave behind more than just memories: - Fireworks contributing to air and noise pollution. - Single-use party supplies end up in landfills. - Excess food and packaging waste piling up. What if we celebrated in a way that brings joy and cares for the Earth? Here’s how we can make 2024 a year of positive change: + Plan meals mindfully to reduce food waste. + Use sustainable decorations and reusable party supplies. + Recycle properly—bottles, cans, and even festive wrapping. +Consider hosting low-waste celebrations, like potlucks with reusable tableware. Every small change matters. Together, we can make 2025 a year of kindness—to ourselves, our loved ones, and the planet. Let’s make this New Year truly meaningful. Is this the Most Sustainable Christmas Tree on the Planet??? This holiday season, we've reimagined the Christmas tree – turning packaging waste into a statement of sustainability. While the debate continues about real versus artificial trees, saveBOARD has created our own take on this tradition - worthy of future studies.... 🎄 Our Christmas tree is made entirely from saveBOARD and saves carbon from the environment; our EPD's (Environmental Product Declaration) have now been verified and are due for early January publication. The Multi-use panel used here has a GWP of -10.0kgCO2/m2 (A1-A3 incl biogenic carbon). This single saveBOARD tree saves a 28.8kg of CO2 – that's sustainability you can see! A bit of festive fun from our teams in Hamilton, New Zealand and Warragamba, Australia. We're taking a break for the holidays and will be back on January 13th. Merry Christmas and happy holidays! #MostSustainableChristmasTree #CircularEconomy #ChristmasFun #saveBOARD
