Learning alongside Kinsey Institute with Kirstin Mitchell was AWESOME. I joined her webinar that focused on a burning question: “How could a focus on sexual wellbeing transform our approaches to contemporary sexual health challenges?” Kirstin’s answer included what LUWI wants the entire world to know: “Agency is essential for sexual well being.” If you have the chance to hear from Kirstin in the future, take it! #LUWI #LetUsWearIt #InvestmentOpportunity #WomensHealth #Fundraising #BodyAutonomy #MyBodyMyChoice #LoveWhatYouDo #WomanFounder #HealthEquity #StartupFounder #HypeWomen #InvestInWomen #WomenInvest CC: Indiana University Bloomington

A major unspoken issue in the fight against trafficking is the multitude of interconnected challenges that hinder a victim's ability to escape—drug addiction, homelessness, violence, and crime, just to name a few. I recently had the honor of co-authoring an article that sheds light on this problem. The article is linked to this post, but I’ve highlighted some key takeaways from the survey here: - 71% of trafficking victims reported first using drugs when they were under the age of 18. - 80% of trafficking victims reported living in an abandoned house, drug house, or in a motel. - 96% of trafficking victims reported being a victim of violence, most often at the hands of their traffickers and buyers. - 96% of trafficking victims had been arrested.
Our new article on is out: It is a study done with Stanley Stinson, R.N., lead outreach on street medicine in Detroit, and McKamie Chandler, J.D.. Titled, "Barriers to Escape: How Homelessness and Drug Addiction Prevent Women from Escaping Sex Trafficking and Commercial Sex," it surveyed 70 homeless women in Detroit and found that trafficking, homelessness and substance use are linked. It’s been an incredible week working with Respected on their Sexual Health Awareness Week campaign! Throughout the week, we’ve tackled some of the most important issues young people face when navigating relationships—covering everything from understanding when to start a relationship, to protecting both emotional and physical well-being. ❤️ 🎓 This experience has been both insightful and rewarding, as I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate on a campaign that addresses real challenges and provides meaningful guidance to young people. ✨Working on this campaign has also been a fantastic opportunity for me to further develop my marketing skills. From crafting impactful messaging to engaging target audiences and branding, I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience in executing a socially-driven campaign. I look forward to applying these skills to future projects and continuing to create content that makes a positive difference.
