🌟 Our 2024-30 Strategy is here! 🌟 How will we tackle the challenge of lack of data and evidence about violence against children? We will continue to generate high-quality, comprehensive data through the Violence Against Children and Youth Surveys (VACS) to: ✅ Know where, how, and why violence against children and adolescents happens, and find evidenc- based solutions that work to prevent it. ✅ Address urgent data gaps, such as studying violence against children in humanitarian settings. ✅ Support governments and national partners to collect and use relevant data. There are ways we can work together to end the epidemic of family violence in this country. But we need radical change – and that’s what this year’s NTV Conference is all about. We know the current system is not working as it should to stop men from using violence and to keep women, children and communities safe. We can’t keep doing the same things and expect to get different results. NTV 2024 will bring together the broad spectrum of activities and sectors that work to end men’s use of family violence to support higher levels of collaboration and collective advocacy – from the role of social responders, primary prevention, early intervention, response, tertiary and specialist responses through to recovery programs. Our Lead Evaluation and Research Strategist, Dr. Jochebed Gayles, just published a paper on technical assistance (TA) strategies. The initial findings in this study provide "insights into the implications of intervention characteristics in determining how much of which TA strategies are needed to support implementations in real-world settings." Our EPIS team delivers quality technical assistance to community prevention coalitions throughout Pennsylvania. They support coalitions in choosing, implementing, and sustaining evidence-based programs that help youth minimize risks and engage in healthy behaviors that benefit them, their families, and their communities. Jochebed Gayles, Ph.D. is lead author of a paper published in a special issue of Evaluation & the Health Professions describing the types of technical assistance given to coalitions. Using data spanning six years, they analyzed over 10,000 encounters between TA providers and implementers. Content analysis yielded four distinct strategies: Consultation (27.2%), Coordination Logistics (24.5%), Monitoring (16.5%), and Resource Delivery (28.2%). Their findings can inform future research into what kinds of technical assistance are the most beneficial and under which conditions. 🌟 One of the key outcomes of the recent workshop on decriminalising suicide in the Caribbean was the creation of a regional coalition. This coalition will officially launch around the 4th International Conference of the Small Island Developing States. 🌐 🔍 Currently, four Caribbean countries—Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada, St. Lucia, and The Bahamas—still have laws criminalising suicide. These outdated laws not only penalise individuals in severe crises but also perpetuate stigma and discrimination, preventing people from seeking the help they need. 🎥 Watch Part 2 of our participants' reflection video from the workshop, where they share their key takeaways. Let's Unpack It (LUI), LifeLine International, International Association for Suicide Prevention, UNICEF, Pan American Health Organization, UNDP and MindWise
