Switch Stacking Technology: Widely Adopted in Many Small Business Data Centers Switch stacking technology is well-known to many people, and it's widely adopted by numerous small and medium-sized enterprises. Its configuration's simplicity provides device redundancy and enhances bandwidth, making it a preferred choice for many businesses. However, with the rapid advancement of cloud computing, data centers are gradually moving away from stacking. The fundamental reasons lie in some drawbacks of stacking technology: Firstly, stacking belongs to a single control plane, leading to wastage of forwarding performance; Secondly, upgrades and cuts pose significant challenges, particularly fatal in data centers; Third, stack splitting can occur during subsequent device operations without DAD detection during power outages. Consequently, stacking in current data center setups is gradually being replaced by MLAG technology. MLAG, or Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation, aggregates across devices, integrating the advantages of stacking and VRRP while mitigating their drawbacks. It's believed that MLAG technology will dominate in the future. #cloudcomputing #datacenter #switchstacking #MLAG

The Story of Data Center Networks: From the Past to the Future" In the past, data center networks were like basic roads connecting computers within a small area. They were simple and limited in what they could do. Businesses relied on these networks to share information and run basic applications. But as technology advanced, so did data center networks. In the present day, they're like superhighways, connecting computers and servers all around the world. They're faster, more reliable, and can handle a lot more data. This has allowed businesses to do things they could only dream of before, like running complex software and storing massive amounts of information in the cloud. Looking to the future, data center networks are set to become even more advanced. We're talking about networks that can think for themselves, adapting to changing conditions and automatically optimizing performance. They'll also be more decentralized, with data processing happening closer to where it's needed, known as edge computing. So, the evolution of data center networks is a story of progress and innovation. From humble beginnings to the cutting-edge technologies of tomorrow, these networks continue to shape the way we work, communicate, and live our lives."
