Want to turn a one time donor into a recurring donor? Here are two big words for all charities that will help. From my personal experience: My wife and I always select worthy charities every financial year to give to. We love helping good grow. 🌳 But I'm always surprised by two big words that are often missing. It's a simple 'Thank you.' (beyond the thank you page on your website) Most charities now use automated receipting for tax deduction purposes, but I'm still surprised that many miss this vital opportunity to say thank you. I know this has a big impact on recurring giving in the future, versus someone giving a one time gift. How to say thank you: 1. Change your subject line from receipt to 'Thank you for your donation' in your automated receipt email. 2. Send an automated follow up email from the CEO/fundraising director to say thank you again and expand on the impact your generosity makes. 3. In the future you have an opportunity to move the one time giver to a recurring giver. But don't have this in your email sequence straight away. Give them some time and send more emails about the impact your organisation is making over a few months. Then ask.

#themoreyouknow #fundraisers #nonprofits The average online donation is over $50 nationally. Many organizations see online average gifts in the $100 - $250 range. S o I can’t help but shake my head in confusion every time I see a charity with a $10 first ask on an online donation form. If you think that you’re going to get hundreds of thousands of people to each give you $10 because you asked them for a low dollar gift, you’re wrong. You do not have hundreds of thousands of people searching for you site just to give you money every year. The math doesn’t lie. So don’t waste your opportunity to engage the few precious visitors you do get every day with a $10 ask. Please start your gift array at least at $50. Heck. Maybe even $75 or $100!

Helping a Modern-Day Tiny Tim with Gift Aid 🎁 🎶 On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… the power to give back generously! 🎶 Tiny Tim, the brave and optimistic heart of A Christmas Carol, reminds us of the importance of supporting those in need. His family relied on the kindness of others, and in today's world, many charities provide life-changing support to families just like his. 💕 If you’re a higher-rate taxpayer, your generosity can stretch even further through Gift Aid: 🎄 What is Gift Aid? Gift Aid allows charities to claim back an extra 25p for every £1 you donate, boosting your impact. 🎄 Higher-Rate Taxpayer Benefits You can reclaim additional tax relief for yourself. For every £1 donated, you can reclaim 25p on top of the charity’s 25p—effectively making a £1 donation cost you just 75p. It’s an excellent way to give more without spending more! 🎄 How to Claim It? Keep records of your donations. Claim via your self-assessment tax return. This Christmas, why not let your charitable giving do double the good? MATCHED FUNDING - BURNING THE MATCH BOTH ENDS ❤️🔥 🔥 Dear (well-meaning) charitable fundraisers - all... PLEASE reconsider your December email bombardment campaigns... and all the "warnings" you give me that I "have only have one day left" ...to GIVE to you (or else you don't get matched funding) ENOUGH! I am not grateful. My inbox is full. And my capacity running near empty. 🪫 Anyone who cares and donates* to just 1% of all the charities that are working flat-out to help counter the many things that are seriously wrong in the world - *throughout the year - will be inundated too. It's one thing to be asked to help... It's another - to be reminded - nagged - pushed - using sales language - several times - about a deadline that exists, not for me, not for you, but for some big funding body - who maybe don't even care if they force you to run campaigns that MAY *spoil the pitch* - for you and for everyone? More generally, when did charitable fundraising become so 'businesslike'

'Tis the non-profit season for the onslaught of fundraising appeals. Before making a donation, consider doing due diligence by researching the organization's 990 (tax return). The FY23 990s are just starting to get posted on Guidestar and you'll want to make sure that you understand the organization's financial strength and/or risk...and if you feel they are sustainable enough to warrant your donation. Another excellent resource is Charity Navigator which ranks and scores organizations based on their financials and accountability. Charity Navigator will also issue a caution message for orgs who have low scores and who are delinquent in key areas. If you or your team needs help learning how to pore through a 990 to assess an organization, give us a call. We are happy to provide this service to you. #chinnmoscone #charitynavigator #guidestar

As we approach the end of 2024, have you considered how you might reduce your tax liability? We can help! Making a charitable contribution to The Crayon Initiative not only supports a wonderful cause but could also benefit you when it comes time to file taxes. If your donation is substantial enough, it may push your itemized deductions above your standard deduction, potentially lowering your taxable income. Additionally, if you’ve reached the age for Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from your 401(k) or IRAs, you may be able to get a nice tax break by donating part of that distribution. Reach out today to learn how your year-end giving can make a difference for The Crayon Initiative—and for your taxes or donate here: https://lnkd.in/eHuiAbWi #shareyourcolors #arthealing #recyclecrayons #thecrayoninitiative #donate #drawingsmiles #childrenshospital #donation #FirstWatch #ShareYourColors #crayonadvocates #CharitableGiving #TaxSavings

Any last minute people out there?! Today and tomorrow are your final opportunities to make a gift to Audiences Unlimited to help all get access to the arts. Still on the fence? Here are 5 ways that year-end giving makes a strong impact: 1. Your dollars go further with matching gift opportunities. Here at AUI, we’ve received $6,644 in contributions toward Anna’s legacy and through Giving Tuesday. That leaves $1,356 to go toward meeting our $8,000 match. Your year-end gift can help carry us across the finish line! 2. You can help non-profits meet year-end budgets. Did you know that most charities receive up to 40% of their yearly individual contributions in the last few months of the year? Your year-end donations help them make payroll, purchase necessary supplies, and offer uninterrupted services to those in need. 3. You can maximize your charitable tax credits. Now is the perfect time to assess your year-to-date giving. If you haven’t maximized those tax credits, consider making a contribution to your favorite charity before year’s end. 4. You can increase your community engagement. Want to make your community a better place for everyone? Giving any amount toward your favorite causes goes a long way toward increasing the quality of life for all. 5. It Just Feels Good! Studies show that giving to charity actually boosts your endorphin levels—the perfect way to round-out the year! Click this link to donate before it is too late: https://lnkd.in/gQVVcJeQ

Charity overheads soared due to high inflation. This has created huge internal pressure. Here is one action that can give revenues a major uplift. And the good news? It is free. Listening. Intentional, careful, considerate listening to a donor’s story can utterly transform fundraising. Behind every donation is a donor’s story. These stories are as valuable as the donations a charity seeks. When donor and charity stories become joined through shared empathy, the reaults can be transformational. I have spent hours listening attentively to such stories and on several occasions they have left a deep and lasting impression on me. An authentic bond has even been created in these near-sacred moments. And while some very large donations have been secured through such trusting, connected interactions, the shared story is even more important. Because now, we have a shared story, a mutual understanding. We are committed to changing the world together. Each giver is trying to do something far more important than secure a tax break. And a good fundraiser is more interested in building an authentic connection than hitting a quarterly goal.
