On May 15, the U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan resolution recognizing National Hospital Week from May 12-18. This week serves as a time to honor the incredible work of hospitals, health systems, and the dedicated professionals who keep them running. Let's take a moment to appreciate the staggering impact hospitals have: - Over 6,120 hospitals across the US provide essential, life-saving care every single day. This network includes critical access facilities in rural areas, teaching hospitals nurturing future generations of medical professionals, and VA medical centers serving our veterans. - In 2023 alone, these hospitals provided care to millions: over 33 million admitted patients, nearly 137 million emergency care patients, and over 3.5 million newborns. - More than 5.4 million people are employed by hospitals, including doctors, nurses, and countless other staff working tirelessly to ensure 24/7 operations. Northwest Health – La Porte and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart both received A grades from the Leapfrog Group's fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grade [https://lnkd.in/gFChGnHg]. Almost 3,000 hospitals nationwide were evaluated for patient safety by an independent National Expert Panel. “Preventable deaths and harm in hospitals have been a major policy concern for decades. A New Era Beyond the HITECH Act: Empowering Patients with MyRxWallet While the HITECH Act of 2009 laid the groundwork for standardizing electronic health records (EHR), it’s time to move beyond its limitations. At MyRxWallet, we’re leading a revolution in healthcare technology that prioritizes patient autonomy and data security. The Leapfrog Group grades are out. The LFG Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital rating focused exclusively on hospital safety. 'A' grade hospitals proudly hang lobby banners and celebrate. A few 'B' hospitals do the same. What do the 'C' grade hospitals do? Poorly led hospitals with toxic and abusive 'leadership' force good people out the door. Patient safety grades may falter with high turnover and transient staff. Is it any wonder frogs are limp or dying when care teams are sparse?
