Hurricane Helene update: As of Sunday afternoon, we have deployed one shower trailer to Suwanee County, FL and we are preparing to deploy ShowerTrailer-5 and LaundryTrailer-2 to North Carolina. Operations are expected to last beyond 90 days and we are tentatively planning to be in the Ashville, Waynesville, or Cherokee areas. Your support is vital to getting us there, setting and sustaining operations, and getting home. The cost of delivery averages between $4500 - $5000 per trailer, round trip. As part of our mission, we do not charge non-profit partner organizations utilizing the trailers when donations offset those delivery costs.  Please consider providing shower and laundry support for impacted communities. This will be our 4th disaster response in 2024, with the potential for another major storm that could impact Texas, Louisiana, and Florida already developing in the Gulf.

When people ask me what do I do, the answer is usually something like this: www.vannonballrun.com The Vannonball Run for Hurricane Relief is many things the Cannonball Run isn’t. Speed limits will be observed. It’s west to east. It’s diagonal and meandering. It goes through the lowest point on the continent—Death Valley—and a high mountain pass in the Rockies. It even goes off road. The drivers will sleep in a bed, use a real bathroom, shower, and eat meals cooked in a kitchen. The vehicle is an overlanding rig, a Storyteller Beast Mode XO. But Vannonball’s most important difference: it is for a cause, hurricane relief through the American Red Cross. Vannonball runs on donations. A penny a mile donation adds up when the journey has 4866 of them. By the time you read this it will be underway—but you still have time to donate, get your brand on it, follow @storytelleroverland, and perhaps even meet up with the team on the journey. We’ll probably raise more money than it cost us to put this on, and we would have done this anyway because, you know, marketing. But why would you stop at the marketing when you can keep going toward a greater good? If you ask me what do I do, it’s that. PS Can anyone get Trader Joe’s to contact me. We stuck their logo on the side of the van because we shopped there for the Run, and we need them to say they are cool with it.

As a company headquartered in North Carolina, we are heartbroken by the historic devastation of our western counties by Hurricane Helene. Despite heroic efforts by first responders, the National Guard, utility crews and relief workers, the hardest hit communities still remain cut off, with gas, food, water, electricity and cellular service difficult if not impossible to obtain. Many communities in Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida have also endured terrible destruction. While our sites were spared, we will all know colleagues, friends, family, neighbors and clients who are impacted. In the face of such a disaster and suffering, it’s hard to know the best course of action and support. But by pulling together, we can make a difference. We urge you to consider joining Alcami in donating to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund to help our neighbors in their long recovery. Or, if you already have a relationship with a reputable non-profit that you trust to carry out relief services, donate directly to them or consider the American Red Cross or Salvation Army. Some of you may have noticed, we mention Florida quite a bit. This is because we have quite a lot of Floridians in our Morales Method® community. And, you may not know this, but our Marketing Manager and Morales Method® Instructor, Caroline Moncure, is native to Virginia and North Carolina. With these two things mind, we felt it was important to bring some attention to the how this Hurricane season, which isn't over yet, has been affecting the Southeastern US. With the victims of Hurricane Helene still suffering from flooding, lack of electricity, and little access to food and water, they are not prepared for the incoming Hurricane Milton set to make landfall in Florida on Wednesday evening. Below are links to resources for various different programs that are a part of the recovery efforts in the Southeast right now. Contributing to any one of these foundations is a way that you can help even from afar.
