Starting my career as a career counselor at the age of 22, I was nervous yet excited to conduct my first counseling session with students and parents about board selection. It turned out to be a great success, and I am sharing this story with you today because I recently encountered a similar situation. As I embark on my personal branding journey, I want to share some key takeaways on how to choose a board as a student or parent. Firstly, it is essential to understand the type of teaching methodology a student can comprehend well. Secondly, exploring the curriculum and syllabus of each board is crucial to understanding the subjects offered, teaching methodologies, and examination patterns. The future plans of the student must also be considered. Students and parents can review what subjects the student needs more emphasis on and then look at the board, which can cater to that emphasis. Additionally, different boards offer varying extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities. Some boards might place a stronger emphasis on sports, arts, or other activities. Lastly, Past Performance: Look into the past performance of the boards in terms of academic results, student achievements, and university placements. This can give you an idea of the board's effectiveness in preparing students for higher education. For example - there is a check-point exam that the school conducts in case students seek interest in studying IGSCE. These are some factors that I discussed in detail with my clients. I will be sharing more information about different boards in the form of key takeaways. What are your thoughts on this? #careercounseling #boardselection #careers #universityguidance

Starting these conversations as early as elementary age are healthy & purposeful! Need tips & skills. Ask me how??
How many of us feel like we received quality career advising in school? Experiences that exposed us to different types of jobs, helped us understand how the skills and knowledge we learned in school would apply in those real world settings, and made clear to us which high school and postsecondary pathways we would need to be on in order to open the doors to those careers? I’m guessing very few. Career advising is a major gap in our schools and making improvements—including starting to explore careers as early as middle school—could have huge payoffs for students. In my latest Forbes column, building on the new report from Education Strategy Group and American Student Assistance, I make the case for putting this work front and center in the efforts to improve our education systems. https://lnkd.in/e75Ka25c
