𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘀𝗸! Recently, we reviewed a client’s renewal premium, which had increased by 45%. Concerned by the significant jump, we reached out to the insurer to understand the reasons behind the increase. The increase was due to claims history from a prior period and the insurer not fully applying the rate loadings during the last renewal. We had also explored alternative quotes, but most insurers had either declined or offered higher premiums, making this policy the best option for the client. While discussing the renewal with the underwriter, we simply asked if there was any room to move—and it paid off. We were able to 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 $𝟮,𝟭𝟬𝟬, 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝟯𝟬%. Considering the claims history from previous years, this outcome was much fairer and aligned with the client’s circumstances. This is a great example of why open communication and advocacy are so important in securing better outcomes for clients.
