Dr. J.L. Moreno defined the terms "Present" vs. "Moment" as follows (in essence): The "present" is a static and passive state that exists universally and automatically as a transition between past and future. In contrast, the "moment" is dynamic and creative, emerging through spontaneous-creative processes, making it a richer and more significant experience. (J.L. Moreno, 1948a, Sociatry, p. 435-436). The recent Tele'Drama Conference created countless "moments" as a result of the incredible collective effort, desire, and love for meaningful communication and connection, learning and healing together, inclusion, and innovation. The Tele'Drama Fusional InterReality is an innovative concept for co-creative stages and scenes that bridges people in various physical spaces, inviting them to share an equal experience beyond time and distance. The conference was fully experiential, with theoretical materials sent to participants ahead of time when necessary, allowing the entire event to focus on face-to-face interactions. The "Magical Moments" slideshow captures some of these powerful scenes, showcasing participants joining individually in action moments with others from over 60 locations worldwide. These groups connected from a wide variety of settings: offices, homes, universities, centers, nursing homes, theaters, the original Moreno stage, the streets of various parts of the world, and more. During the conference, 741 individuals logged into our Tele'Drama Virtual Center for one or more sessions, taking advantage of the 10-16 hour program days, which accommodated participants from every time zone. Additionally, over 60 smaller or larger groups, totaling an estimated 500+ participants, joined as group members for one or more sessions. As I geared up for this year’s LightBox Expo, I realized there aren’t many comprehensive resources to help first-time attendees maximize their experience. Since it’s a newer event, finding in-depth info can be a challenge, often limited to surface-level Reddit discussions. To kickstart your journey, I highly recommend checking out Erika Wiseman's LIGHTBOX EXPO - a guide for anxious artists: https://lnkd.in/gmAVaZYY It’s packed with essential tips like: *Researching the schedule and participant list *Crafting a prioritized must-attend session list *Navigating venue layouts to avoid bottlenecks *Engaging with speakers and fellow attendees *Networking through group activities *Staying hydrated and taking those much-needed breaks *Following up with contacts after the event A few bonus tips from my own experience: *Join the LBX Discord: This forum is packed full of past attendees, other artists, and special events leading up to the Expo. *Saturdays are packed: Expect long lines! Arrive a couple hours early if you want to catch those popular panels. *Portfolio reviews: Don’t leave it to chance with lotteries or busy booths. Follow artists and studios on social media and reach out on LinkedIn to secure meetings in advance. *Get social: I wish I had jumped into more group activities.
