On International Day of Friendship, we celebrate the California Strategic Growth Council members who work collaboratively with our California communities to achieve the state’s goals of sustainability, equity, economic prosperity, and quality of life for all Californians. #CaliforniaForAll    🔹 Samuel Assefa, the Council’s Chair and Director of the Governor's Office of Planning and Research (OPR), brings a wealth of experience in planning, land use, and economic development to his leadership role. 🔹Frank C. Cardenas, the Council’s Vice-Chair, is a seasoned advisor with a background in law, public policy, management consulting, and education. Cárdenas’ management consulting focuses on strategy, government relations, and environmental policy. 🔹Karen Ross is the Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Among Secretary Ross’ many achievements, she also created the Sustainable Winegrowing Program, which helps wine-grape growers protect the environment, conserve resources, and enhance communities. 🔹Wade Crowfoot is the Secretary of the California Natural Resources Agency . Secretary Crowfoot brings more than 20 years of public policy and environmental experience to the office, with expertise in water, climate, and sustainability issues. 🔹Yana Garcia is the Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency. As a member of the Governor’s cabinet, Secretary Garcia advises Governor Gavin Newsom on environmental policy as well as oversees climate action, air and water quality, and pesticide regulation, to achieve the state’s sustainability goals and advance environmental justice. 🔹Dr. Mark Ghaly is the Secretary of the California Health & Human Services Agency. Dr. Ghaly oversees California’s largest Agency that is integral to supporting the implementation and expansion of health coverage and access to all Californians.    🔹Tomiquia Moss is the Secretary of the Business, Consumer Services, and Housing Agency. Secretary Tomiquia leads 12 entities and 40 boards and bureaus focused on affordable housing, homelessness prevention, consumer protection, and civil rights.    🔹Toks Omishakin is the Secretary of the California State Transportation Agency. Previously, Secretary Omishakin led Caltrans, managing a $15 billion budget and nearly 22,000 employees overseeing highways, bridges, airports, and transit services. His vision for California’s transportation system emphasizes safety, equity, and sustainability.    🔹Juan Muñoz is the Chancellor of the University of California, Merced. Chancellor Muñoz has been a faculty member at CSU Fullerton, president at the University of Houston Downtown, and held senior roles at Texas Tech University. He is also a noted author and board member for various educational and community organizations. #InternationalDayofFriendship
