On October 16, 2024, the Indian Defence Research Wing reported that the Indian Air Force (IAF) is in advanced negotiations to acquire 12 retired Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets from Qatar. This potential deal, initiated in June 2024, aims to address the IAF's urgent need to replace its aging MiG fighters and bolster its combat capabilities. However, the talks have hit a snag over pricing discrepancies. The Qatari Mirage 2000-5s, having undergone significant upgrades to meet current operational standards, present an attractive proposition for the IAF. These aircraft could seamlessly integrate with and enhance the capabilities of India's existing two Mirage 2000 squadrons. The acquisition would not only bridge the gap left by retiring MiGs but also provide a cost-effective solution to maintain the IAF's fighter strength. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce #pilots

The 2024 Zhuhai Airshow's coming up and China's new stealth fighter aircraft, the J-35, will make its international debut. The J-35 is a twin-engine platform designed for the People's Liberation Army Navy's (PLAN) aircraft carrier operations. In tandem, a land-based variant for the export market is also being developed. China's been trying to capture marketshare in the global fighter market for a few decades now. It carved a place by selling the F-7 (its own variant of the Russian MiG-21) across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. But it hasn't quite as much reach through its newer generation fighters, such as the JF-17 and J-10. Western fighter platforms like the F-16, Rafale, and Typhoon still reign at the top, especially in lucrative markets, like the Arabian Gulf. So, what chance does the J-35 have? Well, it's basically the only non-Western stealth fighter entering the market in the next few years. If you're a country that can't get ITAR clearances or isn't a close enough ally to the United States, then the J-35 could be your vehicle for developing next-gen air warfare capabilities. Check out our analysis on how China's poised to capture more of the defence and aerospace market in the comments below. #DefenceNews #Aerospace #China #J35 #F35 #JSF #ZhuhaiAirShow #PakistanAirForce #Military #MilitaryNews

Romania's process of acquiring 32 Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets continues to progress as the country's Ministry of National Defence has formally requested the necessary funds to finalise the deal. The allocation of these funds represents the final step before officially commencing the purchase through an agreement with the United States government under its Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme. The Romanian Ministry of National Defence estimates that the contract could be signed by next autumn, pending approval from US authorities. However, the first aircraft are not expected to arrive in Romania until 2030, according to Defence Minister Angel Tîlvăr. The estimated value of the deal is USD 6.5 billion for the 32 aircraft, excluding indirect taxes. This figure, initially presented by the Ministry of Defence to the Romanian Parliament last year, equates to a cost of just over EUR 183 million per aircraft at the current exchange rate. The total sum covers not only the acquisition of the jets but also includes ammunition, various logistics and training services, and flight simulators. 💥 For the first time in history, a Russian Su-57 multirole fighter jet has been hit. It happened yesterday on the territory of the Akhtubinsk airfield in the Astrakhan region, located 589 kilometers from the front line in #Ukraine 🛰️ #Satellite images show that on June 7, the Su-57 is intact on the airfield, and on June 8 next to him eruptions from the explosion and characteristic spots of the fire that arose as a result of the fire damage are visible. 🤡 Russia losing an Su-57 to a OWA drone because they are too corrupt and incompetent to build even the most basic of shelters for their handful of “fifth-ish” generation fighters is kind of funny. ✈️ The Su-57 is Russia's most advanced fighter jet, capable of using X-59 and X-69 missiles for strikes. Only a few units of these combat #aircraft are in the Russian air force service, because Moscow lacks the capability to produce more than a few dozen ☝️ In fact, the answer to the question "Who would win, a squadron of F-22s or a squadron of Su-57s?" is that Russia doesn't have a squadron because they can't produce that many. 📊 The Russian air force has acquired just 22 or so copies of the twin-engine, supersonic Su-57 - Russia's 'answer' to America's Lockheed Martin F-22 stealth fighter. The Su-57s are unproven - and have never actually flown in combat. And now Moscow is already losing them 😈 Each Su-57 is worth nearly 35 million USD #osint #intelligence #military #StandWithUkraine 🇺🇦

The Brazilian Air Force is considering the Indian Tejas fighter jet as a potential replacement for its aging fleet of American F-5s. The Tejas, part of India's Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) program, was developed to modernize the Indian Air Force's capabilities. Originally conceived in the 1980s, the Tejas project encountered numerous technological challenges but eventually produced a capable fighter aircraft. The initial Tejas Mk1 model entered service in 2016, and subsequent variants, including the Mk1A and the planned Mk2, offer enhanced capabilities. The Tejas is a single-engine, multi-role fighter with a delta-wing design. It can carry a variety of weapons, including air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, and is equipped with advanced radar systems. The Brazilian Air Force's interest in the Tejas highlights the growing global market for Indian-made defense equipment. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce #pilots #india #Brazil

A striking image shows a pair of Bulgarian Air Force MiG-29 fighter jets flying alongside a Hellenic Air Force F-16 aircraft. This visual juxtaposition highlights Bulgaria's ongoing efforts to modernize its air force and replace its aging MiG-29 fleet. To that end, Bulgaria has placed an order for brand-new F-16V fighter jets to succeed its current MiG-29 inventory. The F-16V, an advanced variant of the venerable F-16 Fighting Falcon, will provide Bulgaria with a significant boost in capabilities and interoperability with NATO allies. However, the delivery of these new F-16Vs has been delayed until 2026 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The global health crisis has disrupted supply chains and production timelines, pushing back the anticipated arrival of Bulgaria's next-generation fighter jets.Despite this temporary setback, Bulgaria remains committed to modernizing its air force and enhancing its defensive posture. The transition from the Soviet-era MiG-29s to the cutting-edge F-16Vs will equip the Bulgarian military with a more capable, versatile, and NATO-compatible air power platform. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce #bulgaria #greece #airpower

The J-10 Chengdu, a multi-role fighter aircraft developed by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Co., was unveiled by the Chinese government in January 2007. This aircraft, designed to counter Russian fighters, including the MiG-29 and Su-27, brings significant advancements to China's tactical air-to-ground capabilities. The J-10, operating alongside China's interceptor fleet, replaces older attack aircraft like the J-7 and Q-5. Despite initial secrecy, the J-10's successful maiden flight in March 1998 marked a milestone in its development, with the first operational regiment established in December 2003. The aircraft's journey, from its rollout in 1997 to operational status after 18 years of development, exemplifies the dedication of test pilots like Lei Qiang. Additionally, the J-10's international presence extends to the Pakistani Air Force, where modified versions, known as the FC-20, were delivered to two PAF squadrons in 2014–2015. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce #pilots #china #pakistan
