Product Design Scientist (Crop Science) PRODUCT DESIGN SCIENTIST - CHESTERFIELD, MO PURPOSE Product Design Scientist is a member of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for leveraging genomic, phenomic, and environmental data to design improved germplasm. Position will deliver enhanced seed products, data insights, and prescriptions to the Product Development pipeline through utilization of accelerated breeding schemes and innovations in genomics, quantitative genetics, computational biology, and functional genomics. YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of this role, Product Design Scientist (Crop Science), are: Execute the technical strategy to design improved cohorts of germplasm that are aligned with Product Concept targets from initial crossing through the handoff to Product Development; Leverage model outputs to achieve measurable improvement of quantitative traits under selection and develop phenomics strategies to improve our prescriptive testing; Foster strong collaborative relationships with field testing, data science, engineering, molecular breeding, logistics, trait integration, Product Development, Market Development, and Commercial organizations to deliver a robust product pipeline; Ensure meaningful knowledge and data transfer during transition points per crop cycle timelines; Contribute strong technical expertise in quantitative genetics research projects for breeding program design and optimization, breeding goal definition, optimization of automated crossing processes, genetic evaluation, and optimization of data acquisition for Product Design; Perform simulations to improve resources allocation and pipeline optimization; Support quantitative genetics projects on implementation of Precision Breeding technical innovations in Product Design; Support the Health Safety & Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights policies and culture; Identify key areas of opportunity for new technology implementation and/or process improvement, while positively contributing to a collaborative, innovative, and design-centric culture. Ø Experience in genomics, plant genotyping, molecular breeding, quantitative genetic, bioinformatics in plant or animal breeding. Ø Collaboration with breeding teams, pre-breeders and pathologists on the implementation of market/segment specific trait/product portfolios. Ø Must be aware of new technologies and exploit their use through collaboration with services providers and Public Universities. Ø Experience in plant genotyping (KASP based chemistry) Ø  Forecast, budgeting and resource planning to reduce cost and promote quality in all lab operations.
