Eliminating hate crime brings about a multitude of positive changes in society. It creates a safer and more welcoming environment where individuals can express their identities without fear. By tackling hate crimes, we encourage a culture of respect, empathy, and mutual understanding among diverse groups. This not only strengthens community bonds but also builds trust in our justice systems. The theme of #RJWeek2024 is “The promise of Restorative Justice in a polarising world.” Given the global and national context, it is critical that we find innovative ways to strengthen community cohesion, repair divisions and build connections between people. Restorative Justice has a key part to play. Our interfaith project with The Faith & Belief Forum and Interfaith Glasgow is exploring how Restorative Justice can be used by to address faith-based hate crime in Solihull and Glasgow. Today, December 2nd, marks the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery. This day serves as a reminder of the ongoing fight against modern slavery and human trafficking. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), there are an estimated 40.3 million victims of modern slavery worldwide, with many more at risk. On this day, we: 1. Honor the victims and survivors of slavery. 2. Recognize the efforts of abolitionists and anti-slavery activists. 3. Renew our commitment to eradicating modern slavery and human trafficking. An amazing example of how data and analytics can be leveraged for wider issues faced by the todays society. For a long time people have used information assymetry for their advantage. While in the past decade this could have been defined as the the lack of information available to common people. Today, the game of information asymmetry has changed, where information is virtually at everyone's fingertip. With tools virtually accessible to anyone to create a fake news the asymmetry today is created by disinformation dissemination. While some nefarious organisations are using it to their advantage.
