#London is such a fine balance of #planning for the future and respecting the past. This morning I saw this amazing footage of a car driving around #TottenhamCourtRoad from the 1960s, so jumped on my bike and recorded the exact route, as our office is right behind #CharlotteStreet. Two things really jumped out at me. Firstly, the street level grain at eye level really hasn't changed at all. The shops and brands and have all come and gone, but really it's the same set up of small family owned shops and restaurants etc, right next door to bigger businesses. You could go back in time and feel immediately at home. It's one of the things I love most about #fitzrovia. The little side streets, finding new routes to walk along. It's fun trying to get a little bit lost, you always end up finding something new. Secondly, what happens above street level, has changed massively. What used to be storage for shops has become offices. Thin and tall buildings, which used to be town houses, have merged to make way for much larger more open floor plates.
