#Remember those #days where #businesses were #run with #passion? #FIAT wasn't aiming to be the average one or not to #compete with #Ferrari, they're #going for the #win. #Nowadays everything is based on a #profit #metric, like in #Formula1, for example, no one #drives for #winning, it is a #team #game, so, if you need to allow someone to pass, just go, do not #fight for, it's more #profitable. I #agree with both #senses, as the #second one even though it's #heartless, it's more #productive. However, if not for #love/#passion/#proud, why are you doing something anyway? Maybe this is the main cause of #corporate #depression. It's like being #married just for #saving #divorce money. FIAT means #Fattoria #Italiana Automobilística di #Torino (#Italian #car #factory of Torino). However if it was #create nowadays it could be call FPA (Profitable Car Factory). It wouldn't be in #Italy (probably the main parts in #China), #production would be #outsourced, the #quality would be like #today, #disposable, and, with a good #profit for the #shareholders. Does it #sound #familiar? What are your #thoughts?

Beauty in concrete? I think the San Siro shows it's more than possible, and it's a building that's highly evocative and has character - it's scale certainly impressive, it's heritage and association to people and events no doubt part of the latter qualities. Its iconic spiral towers and red steel girders were only added for Italia 90, and the second tier which features the distinctive ramped staircases which was added in 1955 has saved the structure from notions of demolition through being recently designated of cultural heritage significance. The relevant Italian undersecretary was quoted as saying 'the stadium should not be demolished...for the importance as a symbol and for the protection of memory'. Similar designations on the Franchi in Florence have hindered redevelopment plans so a new stadium is being explored there, and this recent Decree has increased movement regarding Inter and Milan exploring new stadium options away from San Siro with increasing seriousness. It was great to visit again earlier this month and look for new angles to capture. RICHARD H. DRIEHAUS ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION 2022-2025 | Baltanás, Palencia has been one of three the selected locations in the 2022-2025 edition. Baltanás’ proposal has been chosen due to the comprehensive nature of its approach to the group of wineries and their surroundings, the inclusion of a new building that can be based on the local building tradition, and the capacity of this project to become into a model of good practices for other locations that have this type of sets. The call for submissions for a new edition of the Richard H. Driehaus Architecture Competition, organized by the Traditional Building Cultures Foundation, thanks to Richard H.
