The superstructure for the first equitable 4-story CheiChei Living building assembled with African engineered Timber on the African continent has been completed and fit-out is well underway. The first residents are scheduled to move-in early in the second quarter of 2025. This project has been an incredible experience; re-thinking the way to construct with engineered timber sourced and manufactured in Africa instead of in the global north. The complete project will consist of 20 buildings in various configurations accommodating studio up to 3-bedroom apartments as well as duka's and work/shops on ground floor. Construction for the next 8 buildings has already commenced. With the CheiChei Living and other projects constructed with biobased and local materials we aim to change the narrative of sustainable and affordable construction in Africa. Our various projects realized and under construction in East Africa show the potential of this approach.
