"Bandi Chhod Diwas, also Know as Diwali. This festival marks the liberation of the sixth Sikh guru, Guru Hargobind Singh, from Gwalior prison in 1619. Mughal emperor Jahangir had imprisoned the guru along with 52 Hindu kings, but Guru Hargobind Singh managed to free them all. Since then, Sikhs celebrate this day as Bandi Chhor Divas, meaning 'Day of Liberation from Prison'." Note: Bandi Chhod Diwas and Diwali are actually two separate festivals, although Diwali is sometimes referred to as Bandi Chhod Diwas in some contexts. Diwali is a broader Hindu festival celebrating light over darkness, while Bandi Chhor Divas is specifically a Sikh festival.

I am glad so many people are raising awareness on the rational of our own culture. Many thanks to them. We have been taught about British and Mugal greatness but practically nothing about our own culture. Akash Deepam - it’s great to know the rational of things. Every individual must try to connect to their roots to know “why they are doing and what is the rational behind it “. This is not just to show our conviction in our faith but also to ensure we can share it with the younger generations. They clearly feel lost between east and west. Learn , unlearn and Learn again - it’s a constant process. #clarityonculture #rational #connection #openmindset #learningmindset
