Hosting idea managers at our Ochsenfurt production site 🏭 On October 23, we had the pleasure of hosting the network meeting of the Idea Management Center Zentrum Ideenmanagement for the Northern Bavaria region in Ochsenfurt. We were delighted to welcome 16 committed idea managers from a wide range of companies. As a proud network partner of this region, it was a special honor for us to welcome so many interested people in person. The event began with an introduction to Südzucker Group, followed by a presentation of our internal ideas manager Birgit Blumenthal. She shared valuable insights into the structure and experiences of our new ideas management system. An intensive exchange of experiences already started during the presentation, which underlined the importance and benefits of effective ideas management. After the lunch break, an exciting factory tour was on the agenda. The participants were given a a fascinating and at the same time charming insight into the processing of sugar beet. Thank you to all colleagues and attendees who have been involved!

I'm on my way home from a visit to our R&D team in Sweden, and let me tell you - it was nothing short of inspiring! Spending time with the brilliant minds behind SATO Europe’s cutting-edge technologies reminded me of why Akunaki Sozo (Ceaseless Creativity) is more than just our motto; it’s the heartbeat of everything we do. From brainstorming new solutions to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the market, these sessions proved that innovation doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s a product of collaboration, curiosity, and a relentless drive to improve ourselves and the world around us. What struck me most during these discussions? How easily "what ifs" turned into "why nots." That’s the magic of a robust and forward-thinking team - no idea is too bold when the goal is to make a lasting and sustainable impact. As always, our mission remains to serve society through continuous self-improvement, and after this visit, I feel even more energized to bring our ideas to life. The future looks bright, and I can’t wait to share more about what’s coming next. #CeaselessCreativity #SATOInnovates

The stage was set, the ideas were bold, and the energy was electric as seven finalist teams pitched their groundbreaking ideas at the finale of the “Gelateria of the Future” Challenge. This wasn’t just a competition, it was a celebration of creativity and a deep dive into how La Romana dal 1947 can lead the future of customer experience in the gelato industry. The jury members — Massimiliano Zucchi, CEO of La Romana, Lucia Cappelli, Training and Operation Manager, Emma Gabrielli, Marketing & Communication Creative Designer and Silvia Dell'Acqua, Head of International and Corporate Relations at H-FARM College — evaluated each project based on creativity, practicality, and their potential impact on La Romana’s business. The pitches were a true test of the students' skills, combining strategic thinking, creativity, and the ability to apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges. It was not just about competing, it was about learning how to approach problems with a solution-oriented mindset and present ideas to industry leaders. This Challenge was a rich learning experience in different respects: first of all allowing the students to deepen their understanding of entrepreneurship and customer service while honing their communication and presentation skills. Secondly, it was a unique occasion for cross-fertilization within the H-FARM ecosystem, by nurturing H-FARM College students's ideas with the 'dreams' coming the children of H-FARM International School who worked with a 'future thinking' methodology in order to put together structured proposals on their 'Gelateria of my Dreams'. After an intense and inspiring final event, the winning team—Elena Barbieri Ripamonti, Arbias Mucka, Asli Donmez, and Carlo Alberto Sartori of “Stracciatella alle More” were awarded for their groundbreaking AI-powered flavor assistant that transforms waiting time into a personalized, engaging storytelling experience. As part of their prize, the winning team will visit La Romana’s headquarters in Rimini, tour the production facilities, and participate in the 2025 Company Meeting with Italian and international partners. Congratulations to the winners and all the finalists for their exceptional work!
