DIGITAL NOMADS // In my Gigsters Book, I talked about the 'Nimble Nomad'. This article on Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Australia News highlights some of the challenges of the digital nomad lifestyle, which for many, may seem like a version of Working From Home (WFH) but in this case, International Working From Home (IWFH). Yes, there are issues with working visas, working wifi and working telecommunications and don't get me started on having a nice ergonomic desk and chair. Yes, you can get travel fatigue and miss big family events. Yes, there are ways to combine work and travel, but given all the people I have worked with over the years from many locations across the globe, here are some of my suggestions if you are considering the digital nomad option: 💡consider a defined time length and specific locations to avoid decision fatigue and a constant sense of planning and organising 💡consider short mini-nomad experiences - perhaps you can tack this option on to existing holiday plans and spend some of your time travelling and some working in a different location so you get the travel cost halved but you may also be able to negotiate a better accommodation deal 💡plan beforehand - some countries have areas set up for digital nomads, so make these a part of your initial induction to a location to learn all the local tricks much sooner 💡talk to other digital nomads - find them on LinkedIn, people who share the same school as you (see the School Alumni Tab for your selected destination) and get the lowdown from them before you book your travel Have you been a #digitalnomad? What else would you suggest? #GetHiredAustraliaNZ #LinkedInNewsAustralia #sueellson

The catastrophic undergoing war in Sudan, is depriving us our inherent right of life. Therefore, digital nomadism addresses the need to still being able to resume my job as a freelance Translator, among others who are experiencing similar circumstances. Wars and armed conflicts (Sudan, Ukraine, etc.) imposing and producing conditions that eliminate the conditions of direct/ physical interaction in specific locations as well as the ingredients of stability and require displacement, asylum and isolation, makes the digital nomadism is a vital need rather than an option.
