Despite repeated government pledges to address the issue, the situation continues to deteriorate, with severe consequences for both rural and urban populations.

🌍💧♾️ Water connects us across sectors, places and people, as well as geographic and temporal scales. In many instances, hydrological boundaries and administrative perimeters do not coincide (an OECD principle). Water quality and water abundance is a shared global challenge and we must join forces to output and deliver good water governance. ⬇️Unfortunately the outlook of shared water resources does not always mean #watercooperation. 🌊 It's Water Saving Week! 🌊 Our Regional Water Resources Plan published in December relies heavily on demand management to safeguard future water supplies in Eastern England. We need demand-side action to reduce the projected supply-demand deficit by almost half, an impressive 333 million litres per day (Ml/d) by 2050. That’s almost four-times the yield of the proposed Fens Reservoir!  Our demand-side strategy focuses on water conservation through the integration of government policies, leakage control, smart metering, and behavioural change in households. We also need businesses, industry and public sector buildings to use a lot less potable water too. The government target is 9% less by 2038.
