The latest party brawler game Rumble Club (Lightfox Games) saw a significant push from publisher Mad Mushroom, which took a creator-first publishing strategy for the game’s launch, according to Mark Rowland of Stream Hatchet.
Rumble Club was released on April 23rd, 2024 and saw viewership hit 591,000 hours watched across all platforms in the first 2 days.
Mad Mushroom combined the 20 player capacity of the game with its roster of creators like Sodapoppin, EsfandTV, Mizkif, Nmplol, Emiru, ZackRawrr, and Tectone to create an event dubbed the Rumble Club Streamer Showdown.
This resulted in OTK Media having 7 of the top 10 streamers showcasing the game in the first few days of the game’s launch.
The game itself is available on many platforms including iOS, Android, Steam, and Epic Games, so this could very well have been extended to a wide variety of content creators.
Additionally, Mad Mushroom worked on features like the Creator Hub that directly allow creators to commentate an event, have stream queues with viewers, and capture photos for thumbnails, which encourages more creators to play.
It’ll be interesting to see how many games directly implement creator focused features on launch in the future, and how creator focused launches and features will succeed in driving user acquisition and overall revenue.
