Sepsis is a life-threatening blood stream infection that unfortunately impacts far too many people, yet an estimated 37% of U.S. adults have never heard of the condition. In honor of Sepsis Awareness Month, this Wednesday, the Selux team is hosting a one-mile walk around the Boston area. Alongside the event, we are showing our support to the cause by raising money that will provide essential education, support, and advocacy to healthcare professionals, the general public, and those affected by the medical emergency. In November we'll be walking in the Palm Beach Heart Walk to raise money for the American Heart Association to fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives. What can I say that is not been said? Heads up! Ostrich heads out of the sand! The human race is in serious trouble as deadly bacteria have outsmarted antibiotics because they are clever and we are so eager for a quick fix that we have taken antibiotics that are meant to kill bacteria. Unfortunately, they do not work on viruses. As many of you know, I spent three years fighting and barely surviving a deadly bacterial infection called C. Difficile. We work together as a nonprofit organization lobbing our Congress people working towards trying to find and develop new targeted antibiotic drugs, and understand the microbiome, so that no others will end up dying as the result the lack of antibiotic protection for a serious infection. We need your help. We need donations in order to continue to do the work that we have done over the past 10 years it has been remarkable. It has led in no small part to some new biologic treatments and it has brought awareness to millions of people around the world who never even knew that an infection like CDF existed until someone they knew passed from it. Please, please, considering making a donation to a nonprofit organization, where you know the money is only going to serve the human population, and protect our future. Did you know your family needs to know if you’re an organ and tissue donor? 👁️🫀🫁 When we partnered with Alberta Health Services on an organ donation awareness campaign we were shocked to learn that your organ donor registration - and that little heart on your driver’s license - aren’t enough. When it comes down to it, it’s most likely a family member who will need to give the final consent to donate your organs. That means they need to know. So we set out to normalize the organ donation conversation. Through a series of video ads appearing on tv and online, we demonstrated entertaining ways to tell your family you’re a donor.
