"Salute to America 250: HONOR and GLORY" appears to be an event or celebration related to commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. While I don't have specific information on this event as of my last update, I can provide a detailed description based on the general themes of patriotism, honor, and celebration typically associated with such occasions. We need some fact checking here - to say our institutions are protected and underpinned by the monarch would have been correct pre 1975!! This was a big year for Australia. - In 1975, appeals from the High Court of Australia to the Privy Council were abolished in their totality making the High Court the final court of appeal in Australia. - The final constitutional ties between the United Kingdom and Australia ended in 1986 with the passing of the Australia Act 1986. This meant, for example, The Parliament of the United Kingdom could not extended any of its Acts to Australia and that our State Supreme Courts couldn't be appealed to the Privy Council. - While the Governor General has Executive Power under our Constitution, the role can only act on the advice it receives from the Federal Executive Council which is made up of Ministers of the government. All the GG does is ensures that decisions of the government are documented and legally enforceable. There is no Executive Power as described in the Constitution but there is power in the federal executive which is presided over by the Prime Minister, essentially our Head of State.
Dad of 3, Proud Northsider, Federal MP for Dickson and Leader of the Opposition. Authorised by Peter Dutton MP, LNP, Brisbane.
A heartfelt welcome to Their Majesties, King Charles and Queen Camilla, as they visit Australia. Today, we celebrate not only their presence but the enduring bond between our nations—built on shared values of democracy, freedom, and service. Your Majesties, we welcome you here with our appreciation, our admiration and our affection.

🙂 Going into the weekend, we wanted to share something a little different...As an organization, we're highly supportive of women founders and taking. action to improve remedy the inequity of venture capital when it comes to funding women. Seeing this article got us thinking about the implications and we thought we'd take the opportunity to share something that's a little different in subject, but contextually as significant. 👸 Reposting this incredible piece that highlights the strength and resilience of the Indigenous Māori people, of New Zealand 🇳🇿 and the groundbreaking significance of a woman leader taking charge. 💯 This moment is not just a win for representation; it’s a reflection of the shifts happening in leadership worldwide. Seeing women from historically marginalized communities rise to positions of power signals a long-overdue change—one that embraces diverse perspectives and creates space for voices that have been underrepresented for too long. 🫡 Leadership isn't just about titles—it's about trailblazing and breaking barriers, and this is a powerful step forward. #innovation #future #technology #venturecapital #leadership
The Indigenous Māori people make up the second largest ethnic group in New Zealand, and they now have a new queen, 27-year-old Ngā Wai hono i te pō. She was crowned queen as her father was laid to rest and is his youngest child and only daughter. This marks a big generational shift and one that will positively influence the younger Māori people because it’s a role that is not inherited, but one determined by tribal representatives across the nation. When New Zealand began to enact policies reversing recognition of Māori language, her father, Kīngi Tūheitia, said, “The best protest we can make right now is being Māori. Be who we are. Live our values. Speak our reo. Just be Māori. Be Māori all day, every day. We are here. We are strong.” Following in her father's footsteps, Ngā Wai hono i te pō is passionate, dedicated and the Māori culture is part of everything she does. “I walk around my house and I see a taiaha [traditional weapon]. I get into my car and my poi [performance prop] is on the seat,” she said. “I go home to my parents’ house and my little nephew is there and he’s trying to do the Haka. So it is just everywhere. I’ve been brought up in it, I am it.”
