Join me on Saturday at 9 AM in New York City for my weekly REBT Conversation Hour on Zoom (free attendance). I will discuss with a volunteer how to address a problem using the ideas and strategies of Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy. We will examine the volunteer's thinking, and they could modify it to help them cope more effectively with their problem. After the 40-minute discussion, I will take questions from the 165 people in the Zoom audience. Attending this session can help you: 1. Better understand your emotional reactions to various problems. 2. Discover how Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy can provide new solutions to everyday challenges. 3. Learn to cultivate self-discipline, manage self-defeating emotions such as anger, shame, and depression, and build resilience when facing adversity. 4. Accept what you cannot change while still finding a way to experience happiness. To request the Zoom link, please email me at REBTDoctor@gmail.com.

Have you heard of radical acceptance? It’s a core skill in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). It doesn’t mean you “agree” with the situation. It means freeing yourself from the “what-ifs.” Think about it: ➡️How often do you replay events, wishing they had gone differently? “If only I’d done this,” or “What if I’d been there?” Radical acceptance helps you step out of that loop. It’s not easy, but each small step creates space to heal. Start by saying to yourself, ➡️“This is my reality—I can’t change it.” Acceptance doesn’t mean giving up. It’s about freeing yourself to live again. What’s one small truth you can accept today?

This Friday, Dr. Val Demiri will be doing a continuing event for behavior analysts: Implementing Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Strategies in School Settings. According to Dr. Demiri: "Understanding Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Relational Frame Theory (RFT) is essential for behavior analysts in public schools because these approaches enable us to address the whole human experience, including both observable behaviors and private events like thoughts and emotions. By integrating ACT and RFT principles, behavior analysts can more effectively support students and staff in navigating challenges such as stress, anxiety, and social-emotional learning, fostering resilience and psychological flexibility. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) isn't just about external actions—it’s about understanding and influencing the broader context of human behavior, ensuring our interventions are meaningful, compassionate, and comprehensive for every individual we serve." https://lnkd.in/grqE8SC8 @Val Demiri, @BehaviorLive
