The Power of Self-Awareness in Leadership True leadership starts with self-awareness. It’s easy to focus on the needs and dynamics of our teams, but understanding ourselves—our triggers, strengths, and areas for growth—is critical for effective leadership. Without self-awareness, we risk projecting our biases onto others or making reactive decisions that may not serve our teams well. I often encourage leaders to take time for self-reflection and actively seek feedback from their teams. Tools like personality assessments or journaling can be valuable, but even a regular practice of asking, 'How did I show up today?' or 'What can I do better?' can build awareness. A self-aware leader doesn’t have all the answers but acknowledges their areas for growth and takes ownership of their impact.
