Planning a gorilla trekking adventure and torn between Uganda and Rwanda? Here's a quick guide to help you decide! Uganda: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest: Home to half of the world's mountain gorillas. Cost: Permits are generally cheaper than Rwanda, costing around $800. Experience: More challenging treks through dense forest, offering a truly immersive jungle experience. Accessibility: Entebbe International Airport to Bwindi is a 9-10 hour drive or a short chartered flight. Rwanda: Volcanoes National Park: Known for its easier and more accessible treks. Cost: Higher permit fees at $1500, but part of the proceeds support conservation and local communities. Experience: Less strenuous treks with shorter distances to see the gorillas. Accessibility: Kigali International Airport to the park is a 2-3 hour drive, making it a convenient option. Verdict: Choose Uganda for a more adventurous and cost-effective trek, or opt for Rwanda for a luxurious and easily accessible experience. Both countries offer unforgettable encounters with these magnificent creatures. 👉 Book now: https://lnkd.in/d23gUgQq #AllUgandaSafaris #GorillaTrekking #UgandaVsRwanda #Adventure #Wildlife

Update: Climbing companies' partner with International Mountain Explorers Connection. The International Mountain Explorers Connection (IMEC) created the Partnership for Responsible travel to recognize those tour operators with fair treatment of the mountain crew all over the world. We began in Tanzania. Acceptance as a partner is based upon the climbing company’s meeting the Guidelines for Proper Porter Treatment on Kilimanjaro through the monitoring activities performed by KRTO’s local initiative, the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP). There is no fee or donation required to be a part of the Partner Program. It is a part of IMEC’s mission to highlight those climbing companies with fair treatment practices. Criteria for acceptance as a Partner: 1) Implementation of systems that ensure fair treatment for the company’s crew. 2) Demonstration of compliance with the proper treatment guidelines. One of our favourite partners in Africa is the Red Carnation portfolio, and we are so proud to work with the Tollman Family. As a family-owned and run business, they genuinely care about their people and local communities. They work hard to protect the wildlife and environments within which they operate. Xigera Safari Lodge offering 12 beautiful suites, is situated in the western reaches of Botswana’s iconic Moremi Game Reserve, gazing out on the seasonal floodplains of the Okavango Delta, Xigera’s unique location offers unrivalled access to extraordinary safari experiences. Jonathon a member of our team was lucky enough to experience the amazing Xigera Safari Lodge recently while attending Africa’s Eden, in Jonathon’s words… ‘Xigera is a stunning property, from the beautiful private, luxurious, and comfortable rooms to the incredible game drive where we had the pleasure of Lion and Leopard sightings. The staff are amazing and couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Definitely the best food I have had in Botswana, including a sunrise bush breakfast! I highly recommend a visit to this wonderful property. Xigera also offers 5 Seasonal activities that are very unique in the Moremi Game Reserve: • Game drives - year-round • Mekoro - Year round • Fishing (Catch and release)– 10 months of the year, excluding Jan/Feb which is the breeding season. This is a unique activity they can offer as you are not permitted to fish in the Moremi Game Reserve • Walking – Year-round – however when the grass Is particularly long, they do not walk due to safety reasons. • Boating – Seasonal, levels of water-dependent. #xigerasafarilodge #africa #redcarnation #adamsandbutler #adamsandbutlerafrica #privateluxurytravel #fineartoftravel #BotswanaLuxurySafari #LuxurySafariLodge #OkavangoDeltaSafariLodge #BotswanaSafari #LuxuryTravelBotswana #LuxuryTravelMoremiReserve #LuxuryTravelOkavangoDelta #OkavangoDeltaSafari

The forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has 20 gorilla families that are available for visitors' tracking in Uganda. Below is some information about the families you may be able to see in the locales where they live. 🦍🍀Buhoma sector: Buhoma is home to five groups that you might encounter: the Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura, Katwe and Binyido families. Interesting Discussion ahead
The only time I ever want to talk about hunting... Is when I get to brainstorm with colleagues about how "hunting in packs" aka collaborative effort with the same outcome in mind delivers results. This is such an important topic, I wish we could livestream it to the entire tourism industry in Southern Africa. Joining me to talk about how we can practically work together to attract and sustain new routes in Southern Africa are none other than kojo Bentum-Williams Jillian Blackbeard Sylvain Bosc Gavin Eccles and Tim Harris. We'll be at AviaDev Africa in June, in Namibia, so if you've yet to register so you can participate in this session and the full conference, well... best get to it!
