Innovationception! The Living Lab smart grid already is an innovation in and of itself, but why not plug more innovations in it? And not just any innovation, but the world's first Circular and Open Source Solar Panel.
When we chose Biosphere Solar as the winners of our Startup in Residence Intergov program of Gemeente Den Haag , we could not have imagined the bumpy road that this project would go through, any of which outside of our control. But with the help many stakeholders, coordinated by Jochum Buchener 's never ending drive to push the project to reach it's goals.
Now that the panels are working, the real experiment is actually beginning. The promise of circularity needs to be tested out. Over a period of time the performance of the panels will be measured, and repair and replace activities will be carried out so that Biosphere can proof that a circular solar panel also works in practice.
In the mean time, the panels will help power one of the Netherlands most innovate power grids, where local businesses will jointly operate the grid with the municipality.
So today is a good day! Proud of Biosphere getting to this stage and proud of The Hague that it dares to help build a sustainable future for us all.
🔌 We're online!
⚡ Biosphere Solar now powers the Living Lab Scheveningen microgrid with circular, (semi-)transparent solar panels.
🌿 This allows for Solar Sedum B.V.'s green roof to flourish under our panels.
👷♂️ Thanks to Dutchsolartech BV and Durawonen for realising this installation with us.
