Regime Change and the Security of Hindus in Bangladesh: My Interview in Marathi with Journalist Dinesh Kanji In this interview, I discussed the historical and current situation of Bengali Hindus, particularly in the context of pre-partition Bengal. We explored how Bengali minority migrants strategically spread out to Assam and Tripura before partition, aiming to enforce demographic change. I also highlighted the implications of Direct Action Day in Kolkata in 1946 and its violent aftermath on Hindus and Chakma Buddhists in East Pakistan, leading to their migration to Northeast India. The conversation further delved into the impact of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) & Narendra Modi government's tenure, which saw a reduction in cross-border infiltration. However, I pointed out that infiltration has remained a constant issue across various Bangladeshi regimes, including under Sheikh Hasina's leadership. Additionally, we discussed the rise of hardline policies in many minority-dominated hamlets in West Bengal, attributed to the TMC government's approach. Finally, I reflected on past efforts to repatriate illegal Bangladeshi migrants from cities like Mumbai and Pune back to their home country. --- https://lnkd.in/d7WrfkAi
