Yesterday began with a positive start to our day with WeAre8 visiting us to cover the social media landscape and highlight the positive work they do.💫 Social media was created to bring us together and whilst it does do good there are blurred lines. Social media platforms can occasionally be perceived to be damaging to the planet and users mental health, which is why WeAre8 have built a platform free from hate, bettering the planet and contributing to the change the world needs to see. Some of the awesome things they told us about include: ◊ Opting in to watch ads that you actually want to watch! Offering a transformational ad experience with full-screen opt-in ads, incentivised views, and brand interaction opportunities.📱 ◊ Getting monetary rewards for watching ads! These opt-in ads follow with monetary rewards, giving users the choice in how this is spent, from charity giving to paying a phone bill. The app drives community-building, empowering users to support causes and drive the all-important engagement and brand affinity.💰 ◊ Making people feel happy! The app and the adverts displayed feeds users’ emotions in a positive light. Great talk from Nina Manning, of Killik & Co, who shared a lot of insight about intergenerational wealth transfer, bringing to life some of the ways they’re using digital at Killik & Co. to empower families, and in particular younger audiences within families, to take control of their future wealth. Gen Z are increasingly self directed, independent and are more inclined to have different values to those of their parents. They care more deeply about the environment, are socially responsible and choose to be loyal to brands that align with these values. Some key takeaways: Start early - build digital products that act as a gateway to meaningful conversations about money and financial security between parent and child. Help to facilitate this early and consistently. Lean into what really motivates young audiences. Help to build financial literacy early.
