Because quick integrations are successful integrations, and successful integrations deliver the promised value. After you buy a company, you only have about 6 months to prove the value of the deal and show that you know what you are doing. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. Words must be translated into action, action into early wins, and early wins into profitable growth. I knew one business owner who would say to his newly enlarged and acquired team, “Don’t worry, we’re not going to make any decisions today.” But when an acquisition takes place, people want decisions. They expect dramatic changes and they are prepared to accept them. By acting too slowly, owners lose the chance to make big changes. As a result, they heighten the tensions between the two companies to be integrated. Unfortunately, some owners don’t see the light, but they do feel the heat when things do wrong. By embracing the need for speed, business owners can turbocharge their growth and deliver the value of the acquisition.
