What is supply chain? A supply chain is defined as the entire process of making and selling commercial goods, including every stage from the supply of materials and the manufacture of the goods through to their distribution and sale. Successfully managing supply chains is essential to any company hoping to compete. Supply Chain Roles: CPO - A Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) is an executive role within the supply chain, focused on sourcing, procurement and supply chain management for a business. A CPO will focus on costs, ensuring they remain under control and constantly looking for ways to reduce them. CLO - A Chief Logistics Officer (CLO) manages the transfer of goods or services that a company offers to facilitate smooth operations. They will ensure the correct products are shipped in accurate quantities within the established timeframe, and will also provide logistical support to senior management in relation to challenges the company may face. (SCM) -Supply Chain Manager - A Supply Chain Manager works closely with external partners and suppliers to produce the product, create inventory and sell products to outside markets. They will evaluate suppliers and negotiate contracts with vendors. Supply Chain Managers are often considered similar to Operations Managers, who take a more internally-focused approach to operations. #supplychain #supplychainmanager #logistics #procurment #supplychainmanagement

Procurement and Supply Chain I was wondering why one should need to know the supply chain to be a procurement specialist ? More So,whose horizon is bigger? Procurement or Supply Chain? This could be viewed in the following way: 1. Procurement is part of the Supply chain. 2. It is expected that Supply chain specialists should have adequate knowledge/expertise on procurement. 3. The procurement could be 80 percent of the Supply chain activities. 4. So who is having knowledge on procurement already S/he is having 80 percent knowledge on Supply chain,To cover rest 20 percent S/he should have also knowledge on logistics, manufacturing , operations, distribution, marketing, maintenance ,administration and required knowledge on other cross functional team members activities who all are the stakeholders of supply chain like Vendor, supplier, buyer, retailer , wholesaler and others. #mustafizavan

#Supply Chain Manager VS Purchasing Manager: Imagine the supply chain as a river. The supply chain manager is like the river guide who oversees the entire journey of the water from its source (raw materials) to the ocean (end customers). They ensure the flow is smooth, obstacles are managed, and everything reaches its destination efficiently. On the other hand, the purchasing manager is like the person who collects water from various points along the river. They focus on acquiring the best quality water (goods and services) at the best price, ensuring there’s enough for everyone downstream. In essence: 📌The supply chain manager ensures the entire river system works seamlessly. 📌The purchasing manager focuses on sourcing the best water along the way. 💡Self-Assessment Questions ☎️🧾Do you spend most of your time negotiating with suppliers and managing purchase orders? If yes, you are likely a purchasing manager. 🌐📑Are you responsible for the overall flow of goods from suppliers to customers, including logistics and inventory management? If yes, you are likely a supply chain manager.
