So what challenge is Steve tackling head on? Steve is taking on the phenomenal Rat Race - Mongal 100! This is a 100 mile ultra marathon in a remote part of Mongolia, and the route is entirely on the frozen length of lake Khovsghol. Steve will be doing it mostly on ice skates and wilderness camping overnight each night. Though he admits he can’t ice skate....yet! "I’ve chosen this challenge because it genuinely scares me and means I have to confront and overcome my injuries head on. When I left the Army I could barely stand for more than 20 minutes and running was impossible. I’m now planning to run and skate 100 miles in -40 degrees temperatures over four days in the Mongolian wilderness, 200 miles from the nearest hospital, with no crowds or spectators to drive me on......it’s just me against my pain and PTSD." Steve says he has 3 reasons for doing this challenge: 1. To show people that, given support, not sympathy, Veterans can achieve things that on the face of it seem almost impossible. 2. To show other injured Veterans who are struggling that it is possible to overcome life changing injury. 3. To raise enough money to give other wounded Veterans the opportunity to get support and go on to defy the odds themselves. I think you'll agree that this as incredible challenge, and Steve deserves all the support he can get. SAN ANGELO, TX — Operation Rolling Hope‘s mission is to raise $10,000 to purchase and remodel a decommissioned military bus that will serve as a mobile street outreach hub for homeless individuals, both veterans and civilians across the Concho Valley and beyond. The bus will provide showers, meals, supplies, haircuts, free Wi-Fi, sleeping quarters with bunks, and a kitchenette. The bus itself is priced at $6500 and the remodel costs are estimated at $3500 minimum. Moreover, the bus will also be deployed during natural disasters such as fires, floods, and tornadoes around Texas. All contributions will directly fund the bus purchase and renovations. Every donation counts and we encourage you to share this message to amplify our mission’s reach. This is a worthwhile cause. The amount of good this bus will do for people who are in search of meeting their most basic needs, such as food, water, shelter, and hygiene cannot be measured. Coming soon! Veterans Day donation matching Stand-To Match Day **Next Monday, November 11, 2024** Stand-To Match Day provides an opportunity for growth for participating organizations that strive to do good works and an opportunity for the community to support these causes. On this day, donations made through the Armed Forces Community Foundation to participating funds will receive a 50% match that can be used for their most crucial needs. The Patterson Family Foundation will award up to $70,000 to AFCF for dollar per dollar raised during match days, with up to $35,000 saved for upcoming community enrichment project opportunities and up to $35,000 for participating organizations. Fundraising goal: War Horses for Veterans is seeking $20,000 in funds to assist us in building a new barn. Our current barn was built in the late 1800’s and has been updated however, lacks the room, storage of equipment, and feeding supplies to meet our current needs. With the growth over the last several years, our addition of more horses and equipment has been steady with the demand of our programs. Currently, we have been using temporary housing in the lower level of our property to house horses. This structure is exposed to the elements all year with open portions of each stall for air flow. The temporary stalls are not ideal, which has caused us not to use all the stalls available due to the deterioration of the structure. Did you know that the average cost of training a service dog team is a staggering $28,000? For veterans struggling with PTSD, TBI or MST, this cost can be a barrier to accessing the life-changing support they need. Here's the good news: Unlike other programs in the area, we don't charge veterans for our services or require them to raise funds. Instead, we rely on the generosity of our community to make our program possible. Your support is vital in ensuring that veterans can receive the companionship and assistance of a service dog without financial burden. By sponsoring, buying tickets, or donating auction items to our upcoming Answer The Call dinner & auction, you're directly contributing to this cause and helping us make a difference in the lives of veterans in need. Join us in answering the call. Together, we can make a meaningful impact. At Safe Home Foundation, our volunteers are the heart and soul of our mission. Their dedication and compassion save countless dogs, and their stories inspire us all. Today, we want to share some of their amazing experiences: "Every dog has a special story," they say. "Seeing them recover and find loving homes is the best feeling." "The joy these dogs bring is priceless," they say. "We learn so much from their resilience and love." "It's wonderful to see the community come together to support these amazing dogs," they say. Each volunteer brings something unique to Safe Home Foundation. Together, we create a safe and loving environment for dogs in need. Their stories remind us that kindness and hard work can transform lives, one wagging tail at a time. Interested in joining our volunteer team? We'd love to have you! P.S. At Safe Home Foundation, we are dedicated to helping stray, ill, abandoned, and injured dogs find safe homes. Please donate to the Over the Horizon Project: The link is in the comment section. This new project aims to raise sufficient funds to allow us to purchase new land and build new infrastructure for stray, ill, and injured dogs in India. We need $60,000 and have already raised $45,472. Please help us achieve the rest of the amount. Every small contribution counts. We appreciate any help you can provide.

Honoring today as #VeteransDay (November 11, 2024), Good Works Grant Writing is proud to highlight our #GoodWorksClient — Soldier's Best Friend! Soldier’s Best Friend's mission is to provide U.S. military veterans living with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with Service or Therapeutic Companion Dogs, most of which are rescued from local shelters. The veteran and dog train together to build a trusting relationship that touches two lives at once and inspires countless others. For many veterans, the transition from military to civilian life brings new challenges, and the companionship of a service dog can be a true lifeline. Each veteran-dog team is a testament to resilience, compassion, and the power of healing together. Working with Soldier’s Best Friend to secure funding means every dollar raised goes toward allowing these life-changing partnerships to flourish. Today, we celebrate our veterans, thank them for their service, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting the work of Soldier’s Best Friend. Together, we’re making strides in providing veterans the support they need to lead fulfilling lives. Learn more about Soldier's Best Friend at https://lnkd.in/gfrbDztd. When you donate just $19.95 a month, you 're providing these unsung heroes with one of life's most basic needs, food. While attending an informative and engaging meeting with other veterans, they are given a nutritious meal and receive information about support that can help them overcome their challenges. With your help, no veteran will ever have to skip a meal or worry about where their next meal is coming from. Our mission is to ensure that no veteran goes to bed hungry, and we can’t do it without your help Herbert C. Can you take your training to an uncontrolled setting? The ability to do this comes from extensive training in a controlled setting first. Our Service Dogs need to be able to work no matter the distractions. They have very important jobs to do for their handlers. What I learn with Loki I can translate to our teams in conjunction with the amazing trainers at American K9 Dynamics.
