Supporting Wounded Veterans’ Post

So what challenge is Steve tackling head on? Steve is taking on the phenomenal Rat Race - Mongal 100! This is a 100 mile ultra marathon in a remote part of Mongolia, and the route is entirely on the frozen length of lake Khovsghol. Steve will be doing it mostly on ice skates and wilderness camping overnight each night. Though he admits he can’t ice skate....yet!   "I’ve chosen this challenge because it genuinely scares me and means I have to confront and overcome my injuries head on. When I left the Army I could barely stand for more than 20 minutes and running was impossible. I’m now planning to run and skate 100 miles in -40 degrees temperatures over four days in the Mongolian wilderness, 200 miles from the nearest hospital, with no crowds or spectators to drive me on......it’s just me against my pain and PTSD." Steve says he has 3 reasons for doing this challenge: 1. To show people that, given support, not sympathy, Veterans can achieve things that on the face of it seem almost impossible.  2. To show other injured Veterans who are struggling that it is possible to overcome life changing injury.  3. To raise enough money to give other wounded Veterans the opportunity to get support and go on to defy the odds themselves.  I think you'll agree that this as incredible challenge, and Steve deserves all the support he can get.
