In summary, (1) The people who are coming from hot areas and un-root themselves from their countries, searching for safety or better future, shouldn't be labelled as "high-risk candidates". (2) The balanced life is the secret of success!!

On the occasion of the #nobelprize week. If your long-term goal as a #scientist is to win the Nobel prize one day, you should up your #chocolate #consumption. In 2012, Franz Messerli found a powerful #correlation between chocolate intake per capita and the number of Nobel laureates in various countries. Why? Students are like clay, the way you mould them by explaining them with interesting facts about SCIENCE, the more efficient researchers they will become in the long run..... I remember one of my professors lectures went uptill 2 hrs, it was a molecular biology class and we were never bored in these 2 hrs. He always explained with the help of examples along with his philosophical approach. I would like to teach my student's the same way and nurture them with utmost talent/knowledge that they deserve. #education #professorship #art #mastery

The Past, Present, and the Future of Nobel Prizes The absence of Nobel Prize winners from Generations Z and Alpha could largely be due to their age—they simply haven’t had the time to develop the kind of long-term research careers that often lead to such recognition. Shift in academia’s emphasis on quantity over quality in publications and the growing influence of industry funding, which often prioritises practical outcomes over fundamental breakthroughs, can be an obstacle to major discoveries. Educational trends, with more focus on practical skills and broader studies, may also steer young researchers away from the deep, specialised work that typically earns Nobel Prizes. In recent years, data science has been largely shaped by industry needs, focusing on things like consumer behaviour, targeted advertising, and product development, rather than addressing wider societal challenges. The exceptions to this are areas like climate change and COVID-19 research, where data-driven approaches have been essential in tackling global problems. AI is likely to play a part in future Nobel Prizes. AI is already speeding up research in fields like physics, chemistry, and medicine, helping scientists sift through huge datasets, spot patterns, and even design new experiments or drugs. While AI might be crucial in making the next big discovery, the Nobel Prize will still be credited to the researchers using AI as a tool. Regardless of age, human creativity and innovation, enhanced by AI, will likely lead to the next wave of scientific breakthroughs. I rarely do reposts but think that this is relevant. Peter Higgs, who won a Nobel Prize in physics for his discovery of the Higgs Boson particle, passed away recently at age 94. He mentioned to The Guardian below that he wouldn't have gotten an academic job in the academic climate in the 2010's since he wasn't seen as "productive" enough. In fact, he recalled being seen as an embarrassment at work when he had no publications to report during research assessment exercises. More importantly, he also felt that he wouldn't have enough peace and quiet to have discovered in the Higgs Boson particle in the academic climate in the early 2010's Unfortunately, if things were bad in 2013, it ain't any better in 2024. I think more places in the West, especially, are trying to recognize research with impact, and not just reward people with massive numbers of publications. Don't get me wrong, journal publications have a major place in academia. But I wonder what am I doing wrong when I manage to only publish 2 or 3 papers in a year, while others publish 40, 50 or even more than a 100 papers per annum! 🤯 More importantly, can you adequately contribute to each and every paper to warrant authorship on the journal article? 🤷♂️ I don't know. 🤔 You be the judge. #academia #publication #higgs #integrity

THE 2024 AWARD BY THE NOBEL COMMITTEE FOR ECONOMICS WAS A SEVERE ERROR; A CELEBRATION OF SELECTIVE BARBARISM AS PROGRESS! The ‘winners’ argue that historically only those nations which adopted “inclusive institutions” and rule of law institutions succeeded; insisting, that non-democracies could’nt become prosperous…but: 1. #China 2. #Singapore 3. #Rwanda 4. #ElSalvador 5. #UAE 6. #Qatar 7. #Bhutan 8. #Morocco There’s a slight-of-hand - they argue: colonisers came and decimated ‘aboriginal’ populations, but imply that those atrocities were paths in the colonial moment to liberal democracy; ignoring that colonists were busy ethnic cleansing, imposing apartheid and inflicting genocide in the colonial setting whilst mouthing democracy at home…in other words they “succeeded” by exporting harm: Note: 1. The societies colonialists met were already inclusive, with their own institutions 2. ⁠The destruction of ancient institutions that originated thousands of years before the colonists - #India is a good case as it was the world’s leading economy when the British arrived! 3. ⁠Colonists stole institutional ideas without attribution (such as George Washington stealing #Apache fighting techniques or Jefferson/Madison stealing peace concepts of the #IroquoisConfederacy for the Declaration of Independence, or Washington’s stealing of vaccination techniques brought from #Ghana), whilst cultivating a narrative that those subjugated required eternal “western tutelage”! Now seeking corrective knowledge we require to prevent HUMAN EXTINCTION, the West crawls back to the systems of the #aboriginalpeople…and billionaires are rushing to live as aboriginals lived before the systems - which generated their wealth - destroyed aboriginal civilisations! This reveals a #zero-sum-game in which the West again PRIORITISES its notion of prosperity without accounting for the human harm or the military and financial aggression exercised and imposed by Western institutions, WHLIST paying service to their acclaimed virtues. #EdwardSaid showed western literature (such as Victorian novels), pretended an air of gentility and human value, yet their lifestyles were purchased with the most gruesome grinding suffering on plantations in #Barbados, #Jamaica and #Haiti. The mastery of any new economics worth of Nobel Prizes will be ones centred on EXPORTS OF HARM…with a cantilevering econometrics to limit, manage, whilst recognising harm ALWAYS as the entropy of all systems. The West is now in need of a knowledge it almost destroyed completely: a. How to live in the flow of nature b. How to cultivate a corollary language and accommodative thinking that situates all human undertakings in that natural flow. The Nobel winners seem unaware - in their books/papers - that we are recovering entire anthropologies and sociologies which allowed aborignal cultures to survive western exploitation; living long enough now to become instructive, providing tutelage to the West it once ignored.

The reality is, a significant portion of working professionals struggle with feelings of monotony and disengagement at work. By understanding why we're more enthusiastic about personal activities and applying those principles to our professional lives, we can significantly enhance our work experience, leading to greater fulfillment and success. This journey begins with acknowledging the potential for change and the importance of personal enthusiasm in transforming our professional experiences.

The Young Academy of Europe has endorsed an open letter to President Ursula von der Leyen, initiated by the Initiative for Science in Europe and signed by Nobel laureates and major academic organizations (including our academy, Academia Europaea, EASAC, LERU, ALLEA). The letter urges placing #research, #innovation, #science, and #technology at the core of the #European #economy, calls for a well-funded research portfolio, and requests a strong advocate as the next Commissioner for Research and Innovation. #Voice of Young researcher in Europe
