A standard for a team isn't a singular statement. It's a pride in the discipline. It's an accountability that you hold each other to. It's a belief that if we do these things right it is going to grow the business and grow my role within it. It's identifying that role, and it's a dignity within that role. I believe we are growing at work because we want to grow, and we want to see each other grow. Excited to see what we can accomplish in 2025.

An example I have seen act in ways that command respect for you and your team: act ethically, act with integrity, even when no one else would know. Demonstrate appreciation by celebrating team members' contributions on a regular basis, which allows them to feel valued. Empower each member of your team to take ownership for responsibilities and provide a voice in decision-making processes in which trust in capabilities can be demonstrated. Be consistent and predictable: follow through on commitments, using that as a guide. Lastly, allow for free interaction in a manner that there will be an environment where the team members can talk freely without being judged; this promotes a kind of trust to ensure that cooperation prevails.

These stats are eye-opening, but I believe it. In a fast-paced, hyper-driven world, it’s easy to forget that small, meaningful changes can make a huge difference in the people you lead. Things like: • Share YOUR challenges – This starts with you. Be vulnerable and open about your own struggles. When you lead with vulnerability, it creates empathy and encourages your team to do the same. • Celebrating wins – Turn big team meetings into 70% celebrations of individual and team achievements. When people feel authentically valued and recognized, trust grows. • Regular 1v1s – Give your team the space to be heard, but make sure you're listening 80% of the time. Show genuine interest in their perspective.

Three magical gifts to give to the people we lead: 1) establish great relationships with them; 2) create a culture where everybody establishes great relationships with everybody; and 3) succeed as a team. Just imagine how much joy there’d be in such a place.

Belonging and safety are fundamental foundations to a highly engaged and effective team, but they've picked up some negative baggage along the way. These experiences unlock our highest efforts because they speak to our anxieties AND they position us as co-owners of the team, stakeholders not just in the experience of the day, but in the outcomes of the work. Being part of a team comes with many privileges, including opportunities for growth, collaboration, and shared success. However, it's important to recognize that not everyone has equal access to these privileges. Acknowledging privilege within a team context means recognizing the advantages that some team members may have over others. Whether it's access to resources, networks, or opportunities for advancement, it's important to actively work towards creating an inclusive environment where all team members feel valued and supported, regardless of their background or circumstances. Let's use our privilege to amplify marginalized voices, challenge bias, and advocate for fairness and justice. Remember, privilege shouldn't be a source of guilt or defensiveness but rather a call to action to address systemic inequities and create more equitable opportunities for everyone. I’m reminded daily of the power of empathy in building a strong, cohesive team. When we understand and appreciate each other's roles, we create an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Employees work tirelessly to ensure every detail is handled, balancing accuracy and customer care, often under immense pressure. Without them, there is no business. Leadership, on the other hand, navigates the bigger picture, making strategic decisions that impact our future. Their guidance and vision are crucial for our success. Without them, there is no business. Take a moment to appreciate each other’s contributions. A note of gratitude, a smile in passing, or a genuine conversation can make a world of difference. Recognize the value we all bring to make things work. Building a culture where empathy and appreciation are at the heart of everything we do.

Managing an inclusive team!!! Managing inclusive team effectively requires balancing the principles of "Same stroke for different folks" and "Different strokes for different folks." Same Stroke for Different Folks 1) Providing equal opportunities to all team members 2) Establishing performance standards and goals. 3) Avoiding favoritism and personal biases Different Strokes for Different Folks 1) Identify and bet on the unique skills, strengths, and needs of each team member. 2) Different motivational strategies suiting individuals 3) Working arrangements to suit individual situations Combining the two approaches 1) Inclusive culture that values both fairness and individuality 2) Creating balance between consistent core values and individual management 3) Promote teamwork and collaboration by appreciating diverse contributions and ensuring everyone feels valued and included. By integrating both "same stroke for different folks" and "different strokes for different folks," you can manage an inclusive team that feels both fairly treated and individually valued, leading to higher overall team satisfaction and performance.

A team isn’t defined by the tasks we complete or the goals we chase, it’s built on the foundations of trust, respect, and care for one another. True teamwork flourishes when individuals feel seen, heard, and valued. It’s about showing up not only for our shared mission but also for each other’s growth, challenges, and victories. It’s also about understanding that happy people lead to happy teams and happy teams thrive. A great team creates a safe space where vulnerability is embraced, ideas are celebrated, and setbacks are met with collective sense of opportunity. We succeed not because we simply work together, but because we uplift, inspire, and hold one another accountable to our highest potential.
