Just got back from CSAW (see-SAW) at NYU, and wow—what a day to step out of my comfort zone! 🌐💪 For those who may not know, CSAW is the world’s largest student-run cybersecurity event, started by Professor Nasir Memon’s students at NYU Tandon back in 2003. What began as a small local competition has now grown into a global force, connecting the brightest minds in cybersecurity across 5 academic centers around the world. CSAW’s mission? To keep defenders sharp as today’s digital threats evolve—from machine learning to cloud-based AI and beyond. This year, I watched firsthand as students and experts tackled real-world cyber challenges, preparing for the future of defense. And the timing couldn’t be better—my team lead Cheryl Yearwood manages the NYU OT Cybersecurity program at the MTA, which was recognized by our Governor as a premier program for defending state infrastructure. After a morning filled with inspiring conversations at CSAW, my day didn’t slow down! Here’s how it went: 1️⃣ I met with an incredible group of new supervisors being taught by my team's Executive Coach and Facilitator Gorecki Maria from our paratransit and stations teams, working to set them up for success as they step into leadership. 2️⃣ Then, I joined an emerging leaders cohort of managers from across our system learning about strategic planning, led by Brian Mojica, all committed to a shared mission: to build a resilient, forward-thinking culture. My biggest takeaway? Leadership today is about being agile in a rapidly changing landscape (the AQ, agility quotient) —not only in tech, but in empowering our people to stay ahead, adapt, and grow. From CSAW’s cyber experts to our team’s emerging leaders, we are building a culture that thrives on resilience, innovation, and proactive learning.
