🚀 Space might get cheaper again with Printable Perovskite Solar Cells 🚀 Polish inventor Olga Malinkiewicz, PhD is behind printable material for solar surfaces!🌞 Why Perovskite Solar Cells are interesting? 1) they achieve a light-to-electricity conversion rate of 25.8%, perovskite cells outperform traditional silicon-based cells, which cap at 21%. 2) the perovskite-coated polymer is so light that a square meter can be easily managed with just two fingers, unlike the heavier 20-30 kg silicon panels. This dramatically reduces the load on spacecraft and satellites, allowing for more efficient launches and operations. So, with the potential to decrease the overall cost of satellite construction, these solar cells make space missions more economically feasible for start-ups and SMEs to pursue space ideas. Also, the ability to capture a wider range of the sun's wavelengths not only increases efficiency but also ensures more consistent power supply in the variable conditions of space. That is of big interest to QuantumPrime as we strive to find affordable quantum communication solutions to help to upgrade current infrastructure to harness advantages provided by satellite-enabled entanglement based networks. #NewSpace #CleanEnergy #Space #SolarEnergy #Satellites #QuantumPrime

Does glass produce electronics? Our perovskite solar cells bring the power of solar energy to windows and glass walls, turning them into energy-generating surfaces.🔋 The key lies in how these solar cells are applied. Leveraging our proprietary inkjet printing technology, we coat liquid materials onto glass surfaces to create a power-generating layer. Once integrated with glass, these solar cells can be installed on urban building walls and other surfaces, significantly boosting renewable energy generation in city environments. Moreover, our perovskite solar cells require far less energy than silicon, making them cheaper and more sustainable. They can recoup production energy in 3–4 months, compared to 2–3 years for silicon cells. "A new generation of lasers using ultrashort bursts of light is showing great potential for the sustainable manufacturing of precision parts. German mechanical engineer and research manager Martin Osbild is a fan of avoiding waste. At home, he would far sooner repair than replace broken household items—from washing machines to food blenders and bicycles. At work, the same environmental principles are high on his agenda. Osbild is leading a team of researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (Fraunhofer ILT) in Aachen, Germany, who are looking at how improvements in laser technology could help cut down on waste and enhance environmental sustainability in manufacturing." #lasers #manufacturing

Can you imagine living or working in a building where nearly every exterior surface generates renewable energy? Panasonic is pursuing this vision by developing next-generation solar panels called perovskite solar cells. Produced using inkjet printing, this allows for greater flexibility in terms of size, design and making it possible to expand solar power generation in ways that currently do not exist with traditional silicon-based solar cells. In this film produced by BBC StoryWorks, Yukihiro Kaneko, General Manager of Technology Division, explains about how the perovskite solar cells can make a significant contribution towards the future of carbon neutrality. Explore the film as part of #TheHumanComponent series and discover how these solar panels have the potential to turn every building into a source of renewable energy. https://ow.ly/sPkf50S9cSr *For UK Residents click here: https://ow.ly/IpMb50S84p7 #WorldEnvironmentDay #EnvironmentMonth #Perovskite #Innovation #Techonology #RenewableEnergy Consumer Technology Association (CTA)
