People ask me all the time, what is #impactinvesting? There's no better way to answer that question than to share an example. Here's one of my favorites--the story of what's old is new again, a restored, reimagined thriving market in Baltimore creating jobs and access to healthy food for the underserved community. Check out "Our Story -Lexington Market" Lexington Market and thanks Mission Investors Exchange for the tour!

It's hard to put into words the gratification I've come to feel after finishing these jobs. #HappyCustomers sharing their experience and telling you that thier expectations were exceeded is something I feel will never get old. Working in #Tech &. #SaaS for nearly a decade taught me quite a bit.... ...a few of the biggest lessons ✅ Build a customer-centric culture ✅ Establish high-standards and hire a team that embraces them ✅ Correctly manage customer expectations at all stages of the customer journey Think about these 3 things, execute accordingly, and create customers that are: 1.) Loyal 2.) Incredible Advocates 3.) Going to help you win more business #customercentric #businesslessons #customeradvocacy #coloradorestaurants #rollingsuds #powerwashing

Creating Meaningful Traditions: Lessons from Cheese Rolling in Gloucestershire As 2025 approaches, I’ve been remembering the quirky yet deeply meaningful traditions that bring us together. One of my favorites? The annual cheese rolling event on Cooper’s Hill in Brockworth, Gloucestershire—a stone’s throw from where I used to live in the UK. Picture this: competitors chasing a 9lb wheel of Double Gloucester cheese down a steep, uneven hill. It’s wacky, chaotic, and a little dangerous, yet it brings people together for laughter, fitness, and connection. What may look like sheer madness to an outsider is, at its heart, a celebration of tradition, resilience, and community. While we might not all want to tumble down a hill in pursuit of a wheel of cheese, the sentiment behind it offers something to leaders and teams: 1. Create rituals that matter. Whether it’s a daily check-in, a celebratory gathering, or an offbeat team-building tradition, meaningful rituals foster connection and joy. 2. Lean into shared experiences. Much like the cheese chasers, we thrive when we step into something bigger than ourselves—be it meeting new people, trying something new, or honoring those who’ve come before us. 3. Support each other through the tumble. Life, like cheese rolling, isn’t always smooth. Our traditions and connections help us stay upright—or help us laugh when we fall. As we close out this year, I want to thank my clients, colleagues, and friends —dedicated public servants, nonprofit leaders, and private-sector professionals— for your trust and commitment. You model caring, perseverance, curiosity, and willingness to embrace change. Here’s to a 2025 filled with unique traditions, shared laughter, and the occasional tumble that leads to something extraordinary. #LeadershipDevelopment #TeamBuilding #OrganizationalHealth #Resilience #PublicService #NonprofitLeadership #MeaningfulRituals #CommunityConnection #Collaboration #WorkplaceTraditions #Innovation #Curiosity #ProfessionalGrowth #ResilienceBuilding #Gratitude #2025Goals What traditions or rituals have helped your team connect, stay grounded, or thrive? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

The Missed Opportunity of Connaught Village: A Call for Change As we start to work more in the charming yet underwhelming Connaught Village, a pressing conversation needs to be brought to the forefront. Inspired by Dylan Jones' insightful article from 26 February 2024, it's clear that the vision to transform the Connaught Village neighbourhood into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly space akin to the elegance of Marylebone High Street, remains unfulfilled. The Church Commissioners' endeavour to replicate such a model has, unfortunately, not seen the success we all hoped for. Connaught Village, despite its potential and notable residents, struggles with a lack of variety, hosting an array of overpriced essentials and a saturation of similar dining experiences. The closure of local cafes and restaurants highlights a trend of decline, a far cry from the bustling, diverse high street we envision. Marylebone High Street's charm is not just in its assortment of boutiques, cafes, and local shops but in the careful planning and management by The Howard de Walden Estate. Their strategy fosters a welcoming environment that benefits locals, Londoners, and tourists alike. This contrast starkly with Connaught Village's current state, where even the management's online presence seems disorganised and outdated. It's disheartening to observe the lack of initiative from the Church Commissioners, especially considering their substantial resources and land ownership. As we delve deeper into this neighbourhood, it becomes evident that more can be done to cultivate a space that champions local businesses, enhances pedestrian accessibility, and truly reflects the community's needs and desires. This call to action is not just about improving retail diversity or dining options; it's about recognising and seizing the opportunity to enhance our neighbourhood's fabric. Let's strive for a Connaught Village that embodies the spirit of community, diversity, and pedestrian-friendliness, making it a true asset to London's landscape. The time is now for the Church Commissioners to step up and make the necessary changes to realise this vision. https://lnkd.in/d3jUED25
