Could the reopening of #NuclearPowerPlants help in the #EnergyTransition??? In #US they are seriously exploring the option...With the #SevereWeather events and the #ElectricityDemand surging, #NuclearPower, more than ever, is becoming the silver bullet to guarantee the supply of carbon-free energy!!! In this context, #NuclearAdvocates, replicating Holtec International initiative at #Palisades, are promoting the restart of reactors that closed in the last decade. A preliminary study indicates that due to different factors, only a very reduced number could be candidates to reverse the definitive closure, Constellation´s #ThreeMileIsland unit one shutdown in 2019 and NextEra Energy, Inc.´s #DuaneArnold... In #Europe for instance, different #NuclearPowerPlants such as #KKM in #Switzerland, #SantaMariadeGaroña in Spain and some others in #Sweden, #Germany... were shutdown exclusively for political or economical reasons, May you imagine any similar initiative to help the #European #EnergyTransition???

Nexamp CEO Zaid Ahmad Ashai spoke at the inaugural ClimaTech Live conference in Boston earlier this week. This event brought together leaders, innovators, and policymakers to explore the future of climate action and economic opportunity. Ashai joined James Walker of Nano Nuclear Energy Inc., Justin Trudell of FirstLight, Carrie Cullen Hitt of Vineyard Offshore, along with moderator Zoe Getman-Pickering from The University of Massachusetts Amherst for an illuminating discussion about fueling a global energy transition. Their conversation highlighted challenges and opportunities for the energy transition in several key realms. Workforce development—there is a pressing need to address the labor shortage and close the skills gap. Investing in workforce development programs is critical. Policy—a successful energy transition is contingent on permitting reform and streamlining the permitting and interconnection processes. A joint approach—this transition needs wind, hydro, solar, and nuclear energy to be successful. Working together for an all-of-the-above approach is key. Underlying this discussion was a focus on equity and an emphasis on the importance of clean energy technology and a global energy transition in ensuring a more equitable energy future for all. #ClimaTech #ClimateEconomy #WorkforceDevelopment #EnergyTransition

I attended a discussion tonight about Australia’s energy transition, and it was incredibly insightful. The session was led by former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson and Energy Research Director Aidan Morrison. They delved into the progress we’ve made with wind and solar energy while also addressing the significant infrastructure and economic challenges we face. One of the most striking parts of the discussion was about energy diversification, particularly the potential of nuclear and hydrogen energy. Despite the controversies surrounding nuclear power, they analyzed its safety and waste management issues and proposed ways to move forward even with low public acceptance. The talk also highlighted the importance of policy and regulation, as well as public education and participation. Achieving a true energy transition requires not only technological innovation and policy support but also public understanding and buy-in. This discussion made me realize the complexity and multifaceted nature of the energy transition. Moving forward, we need to balance technology, economics, society, and the environment, working together to push Australia towards a sustainable energy future. Looking forward to seeing more innovation and breakthroughs! #Australia #Sustainable Development #NuclearEnergy #HydrogenEnergy #PolicyAndEducation #EnergyTransition
