🚀 Leading the charge in sustainable brewing: optimising beer bottle reuse 🍻 We partnered with a global beer company to revolutionise their approach to returnable packaging and bottle deposit schemes. By implementing our innovative 'pressure cooker scan,' we achieved remarkable improvements in both efficiency and sustainability. 🔄 Understanding the return journey: With the increasing need to transition to a circular economy, understanding the lifecycle of returnable bottles in beer manufacturing is crucial. This initiative was particularly pressing in countries with less robust infrastructure like Indonesia, Nigeria, and Malaysia. ❓ Key Challenges: - Gaining insight into how many bottles are returned and the time taken for returns. - Identifying reasons and locations of bottle loss. - Addressing the complexities of varying market dynamics and internal interests. 🔍 Our solution: standardised pressure cooker scan our approach involved a comprehensive analysis from brewery to consumer and back, incorporating data analytics, observations, and interviews. We prioritised root causes of delays and losses, creating solutions with both quantitative and qualitative business cases. 🛠️ Results: - Reduced bottle loss from 20% to 10% - Halved bottle circulation time - Decreased financial expenditure on new bottles - Significantly lower CO₂ emissions and waste By tackling seemingly simple issues, like incentivising returns, we made substantial strides in sustainability and cost-effectiveness. 🌍 If your company faces similar challenges in bottle recycling, our proven methods offer unparalleled benefits. Contact us today to learn how we can help transform your returnable packaging systems for financial gain and a positive environmental impact. UAB Švyturys - Utenos alus has been recognised as the leader of Lithuania's food industry by the expert team of Verslo žinios! It has become a norm for our company to maintain a leading position among brewers in the country year after year. However, even this leadership did not fall into our lap – we achieved, sustained, and continually proved it through consistent daily efforts. Now UAB Švyturys - Utenos alus has been acknowledged as the leader of the entire food industry sector. We are extremely proud of this new achievement! In this ranking, not only were our revenue and profit indicators evaluated, but also our reputation, wage levels, and the relevance of the topics we communicate to the public – in our case, sustainability and innovation. For us, sustainability is not just a promise but an action. Next year, we will become one of the first to use solar energy with an advanced storage system – our entire production will operate without additional CO2 emissions, and our PET bottles will contain 30% recycled plastic, exceeding EU standards. 🌿 We are not only beer masters but also innovation leaders. World Refill Day served as a powerful reminder that as beverage manufacturers, our responsibility extends far beyond our immediate operations. At Carlsberg Group, we understand this deeply. Our commitment to sustainability is not just a part of our operations, it's at the very core of everything we do, and it's a commitment we stand by. Beverage packaging plays an important role here. Carlsberg Group has ambitious goals here as well. Desired by 2030: 100% recyclable, reusable, or renewable packaging, 90% collection and recycling rate for bottles and cans. We are happy to share that we already are very close to our goal in the Baltic States. As producers, we actively contribute to the establishment and operation of the deposit systems in the region. In my estimation, this is the most effective system that can provide incredible collection rates (a link with more information can be found in the comments). Last year, 92% of all disposable packaging was collected in Lithuania, 78% in Latvia, and 89% in Estonia. The result is not bad, but there is still something to strive for—not only packaging with high collection rates but also with the highest possible percentage of recycled content. Here, too, we have goals and beautiful achievements. But this is a separate topic. We need your continued support and engagement in this journey.

In 2023, German manufacturers of food processing and packaging machinery achieved a nominal export growth of 8.6 percent, reaching a record value of 9.85 billion euros. In Indonesia the food and beverage industry is one of the strongest industrial sectors. By investing in hygienic processing and packaging technology, the industry is increasing local value creation and self-sufficiency in safe, long-life food and beverages. Indonesia can move away from exporting agricultural raw materials and instead exporting their own products in the region and, in some cases, worldwide. We support investments in machinery and equipment with attractive long term ECA financing solutions for machinery coming from European countries supporting the required investments.
