Trinseo R&D team members Abidin Balan and Jean-Luc Dubois recently showcased how our innovative recycling technologies are helping to close the loop on polycarbonate and polymethyl methacrylate during nova-Institut GmbH's 2024 Advanced Recycling Conference. Dissolution and depolymerization are complementary recycling technologies to traditional methods, helping to expand the waste materials that can be processed. The next speaker we want to introduce is Dr. Raoul Meys. As managing director and co-founder of Carbon Minds, Meys focuses on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and carbon footprint analysis to evaluate and minimize the environmental impacts of chemical products and processes. He integrates sustainability into chemical engineering and promotes circular economy principles, aiming to reduce plastic production impacts and implement sustainable practices. His research contributions are widely published and reflect his dedication to advancing sustainable development in the chemical sector. We look forward to his talk on “Achieving net-zero chemicals and plastics with circular technologies - The role of electrochemistry.”

🎤 Our technical coordinator, Antoine Driancourt, from Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives presented the key achievements from the first two years of the project. 🎯 He focused his presentation on advancements in pre-treatment, hydrometallurgical processes, and materials synthesis. Antoine compared these results to the targets established by the EU Battery Directive, specifically addressing recycling efficiency, recovery rates, and the incorporation of recycled materials into new battery cells as outlined in the updated legislation.
