♻ This #RecycleWeek, we're reflecting on the importance of sustainability and how we can all play a part. At Marshalls, we're taking the familiar "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" approach even further through circularity – a concept focused on maximising the use of recycled materials in our products and minimising packaging where possible. Our commitment starts with preventing waste from the get-go, and when that's not possible, we aim to ensure it's recycled or recovered instead of heading to landfill. By adopting circular economy principles, we're not only reducing our environmental impact, but also conserving valuable natural resources. That's good for us, and the planet 🌎 Across all our sites, we measure and monitor waste performance to continually improve. With over 99% of our waste already diverted from landfill, we're on track to achieve our zero waste to landfill goal by 2030 ✅

Let's all support transforming landfills & incineration, why? Because the unsorted waste contains a high amount of organic materials that can be converted to useful and valuable SYNGAS. Doing so reduces GHG emissions and creates circularity of our most difficult to recycle products & packages. 🚛 Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a recycling site? ♻️ Our colleagues recently got a sneak peek at one of Veolia's recycling facilities, where some of our customer's waste is recycled. Here, waste is segregated and used to make other products. "It is important that we ensure our waste is disposed of in a responsible, moral, and environmentally sound way. Safety and sustainability go hand in hand: let's recycle EPS together! May Day is traditionally associated with the celebration of spring and work, but it can also be a reminder of the importance of protecting our environment. One way we can help is by recycling EPS (expanded polystyrene), which is widely used in packaging and insulation. Although EPS is lightweight and practical, its biodegradation is very slow. Fortunately, EPS is 100% recyclable. By taking advantage of recycling programs and proper sorting, we can reduce waste and conserve natural resources. By getting involved in EPS recycling, we are not only protecting the environment, but also contributing to a better future.

At altogether, we embrace a holistic approach to recycling—not just focusing on materials like paper and plastic but also rethinking how we manage water. Through water recycling initiatives, we’re reducing the strain on fresh water sources and minimising our environmental footprint.
