The 2024 SAI Platform Aus Field Trip will be to Northern and Midlands Tasmania, 15-17 May, where farmers are experiencing ongoing dry conditions which will provide context for the role of regenerative agriculture resilience. We have an interesting and action packed program lined up. Previous field trips have highlighted the value of this great mix of getting out in paddocks with innovative farmers, exploring research, meeting people committed to sustainable agriculture and food production, as well as the opportunity to engage with other SAI members. If you're not a member of SAI Platform Australia but would like to know more this field trip or other members benefits, please get in touch. https://lnkd.in/gs4yzxXa Here's a great photo from our 2022 Field Trip to Wagga.

As we explore innovative ways to promote agriculture, I came across an exciting initiative by PVAMU, introducing Foodscaping in front of the Cooperative Agricultural Research Center and the Agriculture and Business Multipurpose Building. This unique approach aims to highlight the significance of agriculture in our daily lives, creating a visible and accessible display of the importance of this sector. By showcasing sustainable food systems and urban agriculture practices, Foodscaping demonstrates how agriculture can be seamlessly integrated into our daily living. As an Agvocate, I believe this venture has the potential to inspire a new generation of farmers and agriculture enthusiasts, promoting a culture of sustainability and appreciation for the hard work that goes into putting food on our tables. What are your thoughts on Foodscaping, and how do you think it can be replicated in your community? 🌱📚💡 #abutispinach #Agvocate #AgroDiplomacy

🧑🌾 For our next spotlight in the Civic Horizons series, we turn to #Iraq. In the village of Shereikhan, Mosul, 20 farmers are leading the way in sustainable farming by learning to convert animal waste into organic fertilizers. 🌱 Through a hands-on workshop, these farmers have gained valuable skills in eco-friendly farming techniques. Early results are already visible, with improved crop quality and yield. This initiative is making a meaningful impact, fostering both environmental sustainability and a stronger sense of health and security within the community. 👥 This initiative is the result of participatory action research conducted with support from Human Security Collective and builds on solutions proposed by the community. To learn more about the participatory action research, dive into the interactive report: https://lnkd.in/eVfzuDGq 📹 Watch the video recap of the workshop below. Yasmin Haloui

As an agronomist and founder of Abuti Spinach, I've always believed that agriculture has the potential to heal the planet. The sector can spur change in practices and land use, acting as a massive carbon sink. But what does this mean for small-scale farmers in Africa, and how can agrifood value chains support a climate-smart food future? I believe that by adopting climate-resilient practices and technologies, we can increase crop yields, improve soil health, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This is a cause for hope, and I'd like to hear from you - what role do you think agrifood value chains can play in supporting a climate-smart food future? 🌎💡🌱 #abutispinach #Agvocate #AgroDiplomacy[Collection]

As an agronomist and the founder of Abuti Spinach, I am excited to share with you a recent development in the agriculture sector that has caught my attention. A food action plan has been implemented in the Rogue Valley to make agriculture more sustainable. The plan aims to promote sustainable farming practices, reduce waste, and increase access to locally grown produce. This initiative is a great example of how communities can come together to create a more sustainable food system. As we consider the future of agriculture in Africa, we must ask ourselves: what can we learn from such initiatives, and how can we adapt them to our own context? How can we work together to create more sustainable agriculture practices that benefit both our planet and our communities? By exploring these questions and sharing knowledge, we can empower small-scale farmers and promote a more sustainable food system. Let's work together to make a positive impact on our planet. #abutispinach #Agvocate #AgroDiplomacy 🌱💚🌿[Collection]

As an agronomist and founder of Abuti Spinach, I am passionate about empowering small-scale farmers in Africa through innovative approaches to agriculture. Recently, I came across the Spiritual Chords' Sustainable Agriculture Project, which is truly a beacon of hope for many. This project not only trains workers in sustainable agricultural practices but also helps them rediscover hope and motivation in their lives. By contributing to food production, these individuals are able to make a meaningful impact on their communities. The project's focus on sustainable agriculture is a reminder that our actions have a ripple effect on the environment and future generations. As we strive to feed a growing population, it's essential that we prioritize sustainable practices that promote soil health, conserve water, and reduce waste. I believe that initiatives like the Spiritual Chords' Sustainable Agriculture Project are crucial in promoting a more sustainable and equitable food system. As a community, we must continue to support and uplift projects that prioritize the well-being of both people and the planet. #abutispinach #Agvocate #AgroDiplomacy 🌱💚🌿[Collection]

As an agronomist and founder of Abuti Spinach, I am passionate about driving innovation in agriculture to meet the growing global food demand while reducing our carbon footprint. The recent announcement by the Breakthrough Institute highlights the importance of embracing agricultural inputs to achieve this goal. But what does this mean for small-scale farmers in Africa, and how can we ensure that they have access to these innovative solutions? As we move forward, it is crucial to consider the role of agricultural inputs in sustainable farming practices and their potential to increase crop yields while minimizing environmental impact. I believe that by working together, we can create a more sustainable food system that benefits both people and the planet. #abutispinach #Agvocate #AgroDiplomacy 🌱💚👨🌾[Collection]
