How do we go from conversation to solution? Cher Mereweather, managing director of the Canada Plastics Pact (CPP) knows the value of bringing multiple perspectives to the table when tackling a wicked problem. By acknowledging different points of view and focusing on a common goal—in the case of CPP, keeping the right plastics in the economy, and keeping all plastics out of people, animals, and nature—then it's possible to move forward together and start forming tangible solutions. To learn more about bringing multiple players together to solve a wicked problem like the plastic pollution crisis, check out this No Bad Questions piece where a humble cucumber plays a starring role: https://lnkd.in/eMCNd6jz Daniel Duguay, Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA), Denise Philippe, National Zero Waste Council (NZWC), Geneviève Dionne, Éco Entreprises Québec #plasticwaste #plasticpackaging #foodwaste #circulareconomy

These are the key asks from the Kingdom of Tonga as Pacific delegations engage with more than 2,000 officials from all over the world at the fourth Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (INC-4) in Ottawa, Canada. “Tackling plastic pollution through a comprehensive approach across the full lifecycle of plastics, while taking into account national circumstances and capacities, where necessary, should be reflected throughout this instrument." Excited to have contributed to this seminal report for WWF which provides evidence-based findings from Asian cities for a robust global plastics treaty. It highlights the need to address challenges faced by city-level interventions and scale enabling factors. Negotiators can leverage these findings to demonstrate the impact of core obligations within a global plastics treaty on city level interventions. The report outlines five crucial policy measures to be integrated as core obligations in the global plastics treaty. These are complemented by a support system of means of implementation. We discussed the impact of plastic waste on the environment in Türkiye with Sedat Gündoğdu. We further evaluated the domestic and international regulations on plastic waste and assessed the situation in Türkiye in that regard. We unfortunately detected a lot of implementation problems. We therefore suggest that Türkiye withdraws itself from being a subject of the transfer of plastic waste pollution and improves its waste management practices by focusing on the execution of domestic regulations that comply with international standards. <https://lnkd.in/dNmceYSu> #plasticpollution #plasticwaste #turkiye #turkey #wastemanagement
