Stories of Transformation by WCAD Program in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu Through the Water Credit Adoption and Development (#WCAD) program, implemented by Sa-Dhan in partnership with Water.org and Svatantra Microfin, lives have been transformed in the Tenkasi district of Tamil Nadu. Among the many beneficiaries are Muthu Lakshmi and Kalaivani, two women residing in the same locality, who now enjoy a significant improvement in their quality of life thanks to the program. Before the intervention, both Muthu Lakshmi and Kalaivani faced daily challenges in accessing water for their households. They had to walk 5 kilometers to fetch water, often standing in long queues at the community well alongside other residents. The process was not only time-consuming but also physically demanding, adding to their workload and limiting time for other productive activities. However, with the assistance of Svatantra Microfin Pvt. Ltd. both women availed easy #loans to install piped water connections in their homes. This development marked a turning point in their lives. The new #household water connections provided numerous benefits, including significant time savings, reduced physical strain, and enhanced access to water. These improvements collectively contributed to better health and a more hygienic lifestyle for both of them.
