Green Growth: The Success of MFS-India's Organic Kitchen Garden Initiative The first phase of our Organic Kitchen Garden initiative at MFS-India has been an inspiring success. We've achieved a remarkable milestone, donating a total yield of 535 kgs of pesticide-free vegetables to local shelters, old age homes, and orphanages, benefiting a wide range of recipients including roadside-living poor families, residents of aged care facilities like Dulcine Pius Memorial Home for the Aged and institutions like Apang Vidyalaya. This initiative not only addresses hunger in the community but also fosters a culture of social responsibility within our company. By demonstrating how businesses can make a meaningful impact on both environmental and societal challenges, we inspire our employees and set a powerful example for others to follow. #mfs #CSR #wellbeingatwork #corporatesocialresponsibility #sustainability #charity #ngo #socialimpact #environment #giveback #donate

We’re excited to be working on ways we can share further on-the-ground content with you all, so you can see directly where your Action Ethiopia donations & support make an impact. 💚 A recent project included working with farmers in Wof Washa to ensure food security by working with them on improved potato seed distribution. 🥔 🌱 Improving food production has been a key feature of the Wof Washa project in order to address Illegal farm expansion and encroachment into the forest which was a major problem at the start of the project. By addressing the diverse, but interconnected challenges, facing people in Wof Washa, we are building strong foundations for long lasting change. 💛 #ActionEthiopia #FoodDistribution #PotatoSeed #UKCharity #WaterEqualsLife #RemoteProjects #Community #SustainableForest #LandManagement #Tourism #Ethiopia #Giving #Humanitarian #Fundraising #NonProfit

Your donations change lives...and it goes way beyond what you may think. Decluttering and donating items you no longer use hold an impactful and positive shift on people's lives through Environment, Education and Employment; 3 core missions that The Good Shop Mauritius has at heart and is driven by. Becoming a pioneer of giving out items, extending their life cycle, adding further value and reducing waste, bringing joy and utility to somebody else; making a positive impact on our ENVIRONMENT 🌍 With funds generated, children from disadvantaged backgrounds are given the opportunity for private primary and secondary education; a change in community through EDUCATION 📚 Job opportunities to people, also with disabilities or facing barriers to labour market, to be empowered and have a sense of belonging and achievement through EMPLOYMENT 🤝 A call-to-action to help us in our missions and vision is through conducting a Donation Drive in your organisation; together in the adventure of doing GOOD! For indeed, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’✨ #donations #lifechangingimpacts #mission #vision #sustainability #socialimpact #grateful

The Sukhawati Store’s initiative reminds me of Canada’s thrift stores like Value Village or Salvation Army, which operate on similar principles of sustainability and community support. While Sukhawati is doing great work, it could learn from these stores by: 1️⃣ Expanding Awareness: Use digital platforms to create broader awareness and encourage donations, as thrift stores in Canada do through active social media and partnerships. 2️⃣ Enhanced Store Experience: Thrift stores in Canada prioritize creating a pleasant and organized shopping environment. Clear sections (e.g., men’s, women’s, kids’ clothing), seasonal displays, and quality control for donated items encourage more buyers, including those who may hesitate to buy second-hand. Sukhawati can implement similar practices to make the store inviting and to destigmatize buying second-hand. It could also introduce labeling systems highlighting quality and materials to appeal to eco-conscious buyers. 3️⃣ Diversified Product Offerings While Sukhawati currently focuses on clothing, thrift stores in Canada often diversify their inventory to include books, household items, furniture, and electronics. Expanding the range of donated and resold goods could attract a wider customer base and increase its sustainability contributions. Sukhawati could explore collecting and reselling unused household items or creating collaborations with local artisans to repurpose unsellable goods into creative products. 4️⃣ Community Engagement and Education Canadian thrift stores often reinvest in their communities through educational programs, workshops, or donations to local causes. Sukhawati could take a similar approach by organizing events such as clothing repair workshops, DIY upcycling classes, or seminars on the benefits of a circular economy. This would position the store as not just a place for affordable shopping but also a hub for learning and community building. 5️⃣ Building a Robust Donation Network In Canada, thrift stores make it convenient to donate by offering drop-off bins, pickup services, and incentives like donation receipts for tax benefits. While Sukhawati already offers a pickup service, expanding donation drop-off points in busy areas or partnering with schools, offices, or community groups could further streamline the donation process. Thank You for sharing Nirajan Ghimire
