Pilots are often ranked or categorized based on their total flight hours, which can indicate their experience and expertise. Here’s a simplified ranking system: First Officer (Co-Pilot): 0-1,500 Hours: Entry-level or less experienced pilots who are building their flight hours. Captain: 1,500-5,000 Hours: More experienced pilots, often with significant in-flight experience and responsibilities. Senior Captain: 5,000-10,000 Hours: Highly experienced pilots with extensive flight experience and leadership skills. Chief Pilot or Airline Pilot: 10,000+ Hours: Veteran pilots with a vast amount of flying experience, often holding senior or specialized roles. #PilotRanking #FlightHours #AviationCareers #Captain #FirstOfficer #SecondOfficer

60 years ago today (3rd of September 1964) with 159.25 hours flying experience, Wing Commander Cyril Arthur CFI of the Fair Oaks Aero Club took me on as an instructor. After two and a half years of hard, menial work I was being paid to fly aeroplanes! 50p an hour to sit and freeze in a Tiger Moth with people, some so incompetent, I was fearful, and others so good I was inspired. During my four years at the Club I witnessed a fatal crash where I lost three people I knew well and knew 17 other people who died in light plane accidents. I still train instructors and am involved in a lot of CRM training. Inevitably, the younger pilots dance around the question of recency and relevance when I say how long ago I learnt to fly. This is a legitimate concern to them. My answer is brief. Sure planes are different, instrumentation is different, procedures are different, tests are different. But pilots still kill themselves the same way. (1) Flying beyond their skill/experience level. (2) Flying when they should have landed sooner. (3) Landing when they should have flown for longer. Here are links to my books ABOUT TRAINING https://lnkd.in/eCJaJhSy ABOUT CRM https://lnkd.in/eRiPYjDQ FOR FEARFUL FLYERS AND FLYING ENTHUSIASTS https://lnkd.in/eDH3p4T5

While diversity in the U.S. aviation industry has improved in the past few decades, Black pilots only accounted for 3.8% of commercial pilots in 2023. That's why our crew is committed to finding and sharing resources to give future pilots the chance to achieve their dream job. #FlexAirFlightSchool #FlyWithFlexAir #FlightTraining #FlightSchoolLife #FuturePilot #PilotLife #AviationCareer #StudentPilot #AviationEducation #PrivatePilotTraining

Formation flying is more than just a small introduction… Following the leader means a lot of training, structure, systematic, an all-time focus. Totally concentration and confidence in the leader pilot. There is no question that the bonds between pilots who participate in formation flying are very strong. It’s a great source of motivation for continuous improvement, and it’s an enjoyable way to hone your skills. But don‘t forget, never get coltish always be ahead of your plane otherwise it’s getting dangerous quite fast. Always remember that you are not alone up there and with your methodicalness you can save life in abnormal situation. #theflyingunicorn #formationflying #aviationworld Pilatus Aircraft Ltd Lycoming Engines Stay Safe - Safety Promotion for General Aviation
