🚨 Utility Scam Awareness Day Alert! 🚨 Today, SWEPCO joins utility organizations nationwide to raise awareness and educate customers about scams targeting electric, water, and natural gas customers. Shantell Jordan and Shreveport Police Department Cpl. Chris Bordelon share crucial tips to help you recognize and avoid scams: 🔍 Signs of a Scam: 1. Request for Personal or Financial Information: • SWEPCO will never ask for your personal or financial information. If someone claiming to be from SWEPCO contacts you asking for this, call us immediately at 1-888-216-3523 to report the scam. 2. Threats to Shut Off Power: • SWEPCO will never demand immediate payment with prepaid debit cards or threaten to shut off your power if payment isn’t made. Check your account status at SWEPCO.com. 📞 What to Do if You’ve Been Scammed: • Contact your local police through their non-emergency number and report the scam. • Call us at 1-888-216-3523 to report it.
