The Swire Coastal Outreach Hub has officially opened! The facility was developed by The University of Hong Kong’s (HKU) Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS) and funded by 太古基金 Swire Trust. Swire has a long history of supporting HKU in promoting marine science through the Swire Marine Laboratory, established in the 1990s and now known as SWIMS. Nestled within the Cape D’Aguilar Marine Reserve, Hong Kong’s only marine protected area, the new hub will soon offer educational tours to the public. These tours will highlight the importance of conserving biodiversity and showcase the cutting-edge coastal research conducted by SWIMS. The facility aims to deepen the community’s appreciation of Hong Kong’s rich marine biodiversity and encourage greater protection of the ocean.
