Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day! I feel like I’ve been celebrating all week with the military community! Instead of writing a celebratory post highlighting all the amazing attributes of military spouses (of which there are many), I’m taking inspiration from Gen H. and asking for change. Military Spouses have unique challenges NONE OF WHICH MAKE US UNEMPLOYABLE. So if you’d like to celebrate Military Spouse Appreciation Day here’s what you can get me: ⭐️Managers: If your Milspouse employee comes to you with a plan to maintain their employment, advocate for them! Hear them out and use your network to make sure they don’t become part of the 21% of unemployed military spouses ⭐️Commanders: Value your troop’s time so that their spouses are not solo parents. ⭐️ Servicemembers: prioritize your spouses career in your decision making processes. ⭐️ Companies: Have military policies in place so military spouses know what their rights are within your organization. ⭐️ Fellow MilSpouses: Advocate for the community at large! I know firsthand it’s tough to disclose you are a military spouse in professional spaces. In some cases it’s not possible due to discrimination. But if you are in a place to lift the community, do it! Advocate with data and personal experience so that the world knows what an asset we are to thrive workforce. I know, I know quite the list for a made up holiday, but I know as well as anyone else you never know until you try!

At TADSAW, DEI stands for two things. First, it represents Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion. TADSAW leads the way in service dog programs by reflecting the diverse makeup of our Military and Veterans with disabilities. Here’s how: - 30% of our teams are Female Veterans. - 25% are Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Survivors. - 27% are Minorities, with 415 Service Dog Teams accredited, including 160 African Americans, 208 Hispanic/Latinas, and 47 others. At TADSAW, we don’t see hyphens – we see Americans. Second, for Veterans, Military Retirees, and their families, DEI means "Damnwell Earned It!" They’ve sacrificed for our country, moved for their missions, and protected the concept of family. First Responders and teachers also deserve this respect for serving and protecting their communities. TADSAW DEI means no biases—gender, racial, or socioeconomic. Everyone who needs a Medical Alert Service Dog gets support, as long as they're dedicated to overcoming PTSD.

New insights: pushing the notion of diversity to new horizons We were thrilled to have been joined by Jody Day, founder of Gateway Women, for our recent EY UK Life Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) roundtable with the key discussion topic of pushing the notion of diversity to new horizons. It focused on diverse groups of people who do not have legally protected characteristics, such as non-parents, military veterans, and those who have suffered bereavement. Three top insights: • Recognition and executive sponsorship in DE&I communities are critical • There is immense value in connecting and sharing ideas for implementing new practices • The realisation that there is always more to do in DE&I, including reflections on who might still be underrepresented within our organisations A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the vibrant discussions. Let's continue the conversation and turn these insights into action! 💡🤝 #InclusionMatters #HRLeaders #DiversityAndInclusion #BetterWorkingWorld

What an event I attended!!!!! Recently, I had the privilege of participating in a truly inspiring conversation at Wells Fargo about the experiences of women in the military and military spouses. It was an eye-opening session with Valerie Nelson and Kristen Howden. Who delved into the invaluable support systems and the remarkable stories of resilience and strength. One aspect that stood out was the empowerment of women in traditionally male-dominated environments. Kristen shared how being a woman in the military compelled her to be more vocal and assertive, especially in settings where she was surrounded by men. Her journey highlighted the importance of representation and the power of diverse voices in shaping perspectives. Moreover, hearing from Valerie a spouse was truly fascinating. Her vacations aren’t planned and finding friends was hard. She is an executive assistant by day but her most fulfilling job is taking care of her household while her husband was deployed. Above all, this conversation reinforced the importance of being allies with the military community. Whether it's providing support for service members or recognizing the unique challenges faced by military spouses, it's crucial that we stand together in solidarity. Let's continue to celebrate the contributions of women in the military, honor the sacrifices of military families, and strive to be unwavering allies in their journey. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all. 💪🇺🇸 #WomenInTheMilitary #MilitarySpouses #SupportOurTroops #Allyship #WellsFargo #WomenInBanking #DEI #Business #WomenInTechnology #LinkedIn #LinkedInCreator
